cylinder heads with HP manifolds

512a.jpg
hi guys. i am looking into some new cylinder heads since the 440source heads failed me. machine shop said the valve guides wore out and some of them broke off on the top. at the time the money was an issue so i went with them but now i am looking into USA made. the problem is that trickflow, indy, and edelbrock all have angled spark plugs and from what i understand the HP manifolds will not clear the angled plugs. i know i leaving HP on the table with HP manifolds but they are so reliable with the no leaks or trouble. anybody else ran into this trouble? i have a .582 solid roller cam, 850 mighty demon carb, torker 2 intake, etc etc. making good power. i would like to stick with HP manifolds but if i have to go to a good header like TTI i guess i will have to. anybody have any suggestions?

I use the Mopar 452 head which is a straight plug version of the Performer RPM. Those work just fine with HP manifolds. The angle plug heads will work with HP manifolds but the #6 plug wire get close to the manifold. If you run that combo you'll need to spend some time wrapping the wires and/or making some looms to hold them in place.

As stated above, Mopar Performance has a near identical cylinder head available as the RPM with straight, non-angled plugs.

How long have the "source" heads been in use?

I have used many sets of Stealth Heads out there for many years, too numerous pairs to count and some now well OVER 40K Miles !
NO problems that I've heard back on ? and I am certain I would have by now.
just say'in....
IMO, you may have been plagued by some other/Geometry gremlin ?

BTW, for the guys that MUST retain that "stock" appearance....
Using the Stealth's(ported of course), we've Dyno'd 500+ HP and 565 Ft/Lbs on a 451 dressed as a factory "383 R/T car" through the factory hp manifolds and 2 1/4" Exhaust, Twin Snorkel Air Cleaner ON, 91 Octane using a .525" Lift HR Cam.
Which speaks to the rationale....
if you are using the factory HP manifolds for stock "appearances" ?
Then,
the Stealth's can also be used to provide excellent power !

I'll dig out the Engine Dyno Sheet and get it up here later/tomorrow.
