Dad's 69RR Driver Project(I'm doing the work)

Coming Along

Here is an update. Pulled engine, did a total rebuild, replaced lower radiator support, rebuilt clutch z-bar, prepped and painted engine bay, and had exhaust manifolds ceramic powder coated. Will post more later.

Looking great. Nice thing your doing for your dad. Good luck with the project.

Nice color and having it they way one was so long ago is just cool!

Great progress and a nice thing you are doing for your dad!

Great job so far and a great cause too . . . Following along to see that you reach your goal . . . G'luck with it . . .

Funny how a little shine makes things a whole lot prettier!

Engine In

Engine is in and looking to fire it up this week! The car did not come with a fan shroud, should I put one in? Not sure if that was standard in 69 for the 383's?

The car looks great - nice job! :icon_thumright:

As far as a fan shroud - YES, you should absolutely put one in. Fan shrouds are critical to helping funnel air through the radiator, which is what you need to help heat transfer. Without a fan shroud, a lot of air will escape around the radiator, and you may have overheating problems.

X2!! Get the shroud!......

You'd be amazed how many "car is running hot/overheating" threads that have come and gone on this site, only to see the person having problems post's pictures of their ride with no shroud under the hood.

Looking good Dad's69RR!

How come his "I gotta get this done quick" work looks as good as my "I really need to take my time and do this right" work?

Finished up the Heater Box Resto and pretty happy with how it turned out! Got the RR in the shop for rear end service and a much needed alignment. Should be drivable as soon as it's done. One step closer to my Dad taking it to his first cruise in. Here's some pics of the Htr Box finished.
