I'm building a 63 Plymouth Fury for Drag Racing. Someone previously moved the leaf Springs inboard and narrowed the trunk but left the 8.75 at factory specs. I'm wanting to replace the 8.75 with a narrowed Dana, and cal-tracs. Question is? What company do any of you recommend that can build or sell this Dana setup for my 63? Any and all information is helpful. Thanks.

either one could do it. i think strange has them on ebay , built to your spec for around $1800 .....

strange if you want to wait.
moser will have it for you right away. i have both with no issues from either of them.
seems strange dana s-60's are always backordered.

THANKS A TON for the information. You guys are Great!! I'll call both companies and see what the time line is. The pictures are really appreciated too. The white 63 is awesome! Love that very unique body style. I can't see how you got those big tires under it w/o a mini-tub but, my red 63 was done before purchaisng the car.

One other question? This 63 will see some street use so a posi is warranted. I understand there are several types of Posi's available for the Dana. Any suggestions for that? Thanks again!

The stock type factory Sure Grip works very well.

This is an 8 3/4 and a Dana 60 side by side....the Power Lok for the 8 3/4 is a good unit and you can see that the Dana dwarfs the 8 3/4 unit.

Cranky-Thanks for the photo comparison betteen the Dana power Lok and the 8.75. HUGE difference indeed!! Probably big Bucks for that unit?

This dana is out of an "E" body.Tubbed to the rail with springs moved in and complete Ca Trak system. My street tire is a m/t sportsman pro 16.5 X 31:munky2:I also have been street driving with a spool for 25 years, still the same spool!!!

Been awhile since I priced one but iirc, they are around 400 or so? Also, most new ones are not set up for stock wheel bearings and have to use the Green setup. Other words, there's no center thrust pin in them.

A spool is something that can be considered too but keep in mind that you will chirp the inside tire on all turns not to mention the car will try and stop each time you turn and pushing one will stop when you turn the steering wheel but they can be a lot of fun on wet roads lol. Not everyone can deal with street driving a car with a spool but I like them. For the most part, they don't break and never need rebuilding. Stock Dana 60 axles can withstand the abuse of one on the street but 8 3/4 axles will not put up with it for long and the more weight the car has, the faster they break.
