The dash lights on my 70 satellite will not go out . I pulled the fuse, removed the headlight switch and the rotary dash light dimmer switch. They are still on! Any suggestions?
I'd check the two connectors under the steering column. I've seen quite a few Mopars that melt a wire (s) right near those connectors. One of them (can't remember) had the dash light power feed. If a hot wire melted together with it you could get that problem. A round-about way might also be to start disconnecting circuits (pull fuses) and/or disconnect wires at the bulkhead disconnect one at a time. When the dash lights go out, you've found the circuit crossed with it. Wiring is a pain in the rear end.
I found the problem! The orange wire going into the back of the fuse box had rubbed against another hot terminal. It was hard to see until I unhooked it from it's terminal. It had bared the wire and was being fed voltage where it was touching the other terminal.
I hope this helps someone else and saves them the hours it took me to find this.
