pulled the 68 coronet in the shop here is what i am thinking
pull seats out and glass and trim off than grind old bondo off the rear quarters and cut old quarters off install new ones
am i thinking right or should i be doing it differntly?
i have restored a few trucks but that was race only deal gutted out
not much interior to worry about i do wanna keep the car driveable till the rear quarters are on so i can pull it in and out of the shop

If you want to drive it in and out, maybe keep one seat in,take all the other interior pieces out.Remove all other outside trim and put them in a sturdy box and label. If you are going to replace the quarters, you wouldn't have to grind off the old bondo would you?(xtra work). If you are not going to move the car for awhile put a plastic cover over the engine to keep as much dust out of the engine bay.If you remove the glass, then you will get dust inside. But not sure too what extent you are wanting to go with your car.

if youre asking what to start with,,,, start with this:

1.make sure ya got LOTSA money
2. make sure you have a tolerant wife and/or significant other
3. make sure ya got room to do this,,,,, and tools
4. double check to make sure ya got LOTSA money again !

LOL. No kidding. I could not agree more with this list. The first thing people ask me is are you still married after all these years on the restoration. Price things up first before you get into this.

Yes Money first, My house ate my project budget this year so now I'm doing the tedious stuff, haven't spent any money on the car since May. When I do spend money I learned to express the amount in "shoe dollars". That being how much money she spent on shoes compared to the amount I spent on parts during the same time period.

I started by scraping off all undercoating and cleaning up the underside of the car.

well not shure if any1 on here has ever had a mod 4x4 pulling truck
but the money thing i understand totaly
i had over 100k into the truck over a 8 yr time
over 40k into the motor and yea that was getting if freshend every season
i dont have much money to spend on this
i am still trying to recover from yrs of spent money on pulling and a home that needs work and 3 kids to raise
but i am doing everything myself on this car
i am a welder and have experince with auto body and got a frend that owns his own body shop
so i do have so very good resourses to get this car done parts will cost me plently but i am gonna buy stuff as i can afford to
i have decided to do the frame supports and all the needed work under the car
to make it strong this is gonna see strip time
and the 383 will get some top end work but not a total build
i would rather stick money into the rest of the car so i can enjoy it next summer
but i wanna do all the work to it to handle a much better power plant in the furture
and with help from the great ppl on this site i think i can get it done with out selling off any body parts but i may be wrong lol

trunk and floors are good
i have a few very lil sports to repair on the floor i am gonna form up patch pices this week with my job i wont be able to work on the car till the weekend
but i hope to have some progress done with pics

Jess, Buy a good marker and a couple boxes of zip-lock bags and tag and bag all small parts, keep a journal with all listed and keep somewhere where there not going to be constantly moved for whatever reason if its possible.. Much easier on nerves and finding everything when assemble begins.. I thought id add this because before i learned to do it, lets just say what a mess of crap... The only other things is learn patience now, you will be in need of it and when the bad days come, its better to walk out and get your head on right. Good luck with your project, ill be watching, im self admitted resto junky, hours i spend here taking notes and saving photos and diagrams on various things.. again. Good luck. :eusa_think:

Take lots of pics before you take stuff apart- sometimes it's quite a while before you put it back together. I bag and tag each part; every screw, nut or bolt gets labelled. I put small stuff into totes and have an inventory list on the outside of the tote so things get found easily. As I disassemble I make a list of parts I need to buy so I can keep my eyes peeled for bargains.
Good luck!

thanxs for the advice
so far i have everything labled and layed out on a table
gonna use tote bins and zip lock bags
i have been taking alot of pics i might post a few later tonight
