Nice solid 70 Delta!
To me, this car is almost borderline - could be pieced back together as is.....or have a full restoration. Either way the car is outstanding - excellent body condition. Almost seems a shame to re-paint it.Did some cleaning while I waited for the paint and body guy to show up; and then waited some more.
Sundown was approaching and so I put everything away. Murphy's Law...he showed up 20 minutes later. He likes the car and can't believe its condition. He will be back tomorrow at noon.
Definitely a four Advil day, but I'm going to have a glass of red wine instead.
The good side. The vinyl top is difficult to clean, but I'm getting there. No bubbles underneath.

The not as good side below.
(fender and door were replaced after owner #1 merged into another car after exiting a highway). The door is from a '68 Charger.

I found a '70 Charger 500 being salvaged in Texas around 1990 and paid a king's ransom ($50) for the door below. I unpacked it today!
The pushbutton is black on the door below. Pushbuttons on my car are "chrome". I don't recall seeing black ones on other Chargers.

Did some superficial cleanup in the engine bay. The 50+ year old factory paint has held up well.

The metal below the battery tray is solid.

So, candidate #1 showed up on Saturday at sundown after I had returned everything to the garage. He liked what he saw and came back Sunday noontime and looked the car over for roughly 90 minutes. He couldn't believe the condition. "This car is worth a lot of money" he repeated too many times. He wouldn't give me an estimate for paint and body work..."I don't give estimates until it's stripped down to bare metal". I can see his point, but I did say "estimate" and my car isn't a basket case. Oddly, he said I would have to remove the windshield myself or have a glass installer remove it. The vinyl top is drying out, but there are no hints of rust underneath it. Afterwards, he got back into his truck and asks "do you want to sell it?". I politely answered "no" of course and he drove off.Been buying parts.
Also, I have two paint & body candidates lined up. The first guy is coming by today (Saturday) to look over the car and give me a cost estimate. Also, when he can start and finish the job. I have to call the second guy and setup a time for him to look over the car; probably in December.
