Dinner at fine steak house $150. meal

Happy Anniversary! I have been to a place called Jess and Jims here outside Kc Supposed to be the best. I wasnt impressed. Im ok with Texas roadhouse. But I like to grill at home too. A steak on the grill and a cold beer in my hand and I am happy.

We eat good at the track!! I bring a LARGE table!

Western Sizzlin....yeah! We used to have 1 or 2 here in the STL area but they went away maybe 20 years ago. Great buffet, too.
Around here for my money its Kreiss' restaurant (pronounced Chrys as in Chrysler).
Old school service and atmosphere. Dry aged in house.

I've grilled at swap meets.

VERY effective a drawing crowds.

I could have sold my last burgers for $10-15 a piece.

Not much of a steak eater. I’ve traveled the country for work on an expense acct and eaten at many a fine restaurant - but never a place I would spend mine or the company’s money on a several hundred dollar steak. Just don’t like it that much. I’m good with a $10 prime rib at Elsie’s Bowling Alley in Minneapolis. They say Mannys in Minneapolis is the place to go if you want all the best. Me - never been.

Best steak I have ever had was grilled at home. 2-20oz ribeye's, 2 lobster tails, 2 baked potatoes, 2 tossed salads, and rolls all for about 30 bucks. And the tip was taken in trade later that evening. LOL.

Had dinner last night at Russell's steakhouse. Don't usually go to 1ST class restaurants as they are out of our budget, but special occasions call for great dinners. If your ever in the Buffalo area and want an EXCELLENT meal, stop in there. The food, service, and atmosphere are incredible. Steak you can cut with a fork. Dinner for two, $150 with the tip, but an incredible two hour meal.
Me, I'm just a blue collar guy, toss a burger at me and I'm fine, but occasionally you need to step over and see how the upper crust live.
What places do you guys have for great meals, if I'm ever in your area with to much cash in my pockets.

My house and kitchen. Gave up going out ages ago. Besides I can do it so much better than any 5 star eatery can. And yes I am being biased about my culinary skills. But glad you enjoyed what appers to be a very fine meal...cr8crshr/Bill:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup::usflag::usflag::usflag:

If you ever get down by Wichita. Go on down to the steak house in the casino. It's a tomahawk ribeye that has been marinated in coffee and sea salt for 7 days mmmmm good

A long time ago I went to some place near
Col. Springs, Englewood, or Denver (?) I don't think it was Denver
a cowboy steak joint 'if you wear a tie, they cut it off'
it's certainly not for the hoity toidy upper crusted crowd
**** kicken' joint, just like Lisa loved, down to earth country gal...
& they have huge steaks, up-to like 60-80oz or something
eat for free if you can finish it...
not me, no thanks

We went there a couple times
in my trips to Morrison/Bandimere or Pikes Peak,
or maybe when Lisa was doing her barrel racing, cutting horses
I can't remember what...
anyway;
it was recommended by a local a trailer builder in Englewood
that part I do remeber

Damn I can't remember the name of the place, for the life of me...

It was a great steak house, live country music, dancing too IIRC
I had the 'cowboy steak' & Lisa had the 'cowgirl'
her steak was 1/2 the size of mine 20 Oz. T bone probably
& far more than I can ever eat
mine was like the whole freaken' plate,
I have no idea the weight (porterhouse maybe)
plus cornbread, potatoes, corn on the cobb & a dessert etc.
like $50 a plate...
IIRC it was damn good too, it was maybe 20 years ago now...

It stuck with me, we went back a couple times
wish I could remember the name
If I ever go through there again
I'd like to stop in for sentimental values if nothing else

I know the place you’re referring to Bud - from when I lived in Colo Sprgs. It was in Denver I believe. Can’t remember the name either....... I do remember they cut your tie off if you wore one and nailed it to the wall.

Went to a place I think in Alabama, where they throw the rolls to you. One buzzed my wife's head , I thought it was funny until she got me with a few peas. They gave you seconds as they walked around with a large bowl.. Fun vacation joint, not celebration worthy.

Lambert's Cafe in Gulf Shores AL. They also have one in Sikeston MO. "Home of the throwed rolls."

Maybe this is the place to ask....I am not a big prime rib fan, get it once in a while . big gob of fat on the edge seems like a waste of money. However, my son recommended a Hy-Vee grocery store buffet Ames, Iowa small college town, for Thanksgiving. I'm reluctant , but what the heck --family together. The food was delicious ! Everything, and plenty of it. . Question is, They had a roast prime rib , carved off for you like a ham, much as you want, $20 per person. I could not believe how good that roast prime rib was. I have never heard of roast prime rib before, can't find it anywhere. They don't normally have it . Any of you ever had it and where can it been found on a everyday menu? Is it available from a meat market? ....................MO

Several years ago the Wife was given a $200 gift card to a new fancy restaurant as a gift from a co-worker that she helped out of a jam.
We went.
We ate.
We left.
I was not all that impressed. Sure, the food was good but not any better than The Outback . The bill was $130 and there were no refunds on the balance so we added a few desserts "To Go" and left the rest as a tip.
Mary has found recipes online to duplicate steaks like The Outback. It isn't a huge cost savings but we don't have to drive to eat and there is no ONE hour wait!

Where was that gift certificate for. Don’t want to go there. Outback is overated. I’m tight and don’t like long lines at trendy places.

Wouldn't it be just a cut of prime rib with the rib bone removed ?
