DOGS

This is Neko, RIP, a few years back relegated to the cat bed because the black cat Cuda is sprawled out on his bed. Cat used to love picking on that dog.

Dogs are so good hearted; they put up with way too much sh...stuff. Shoulda had the cat for breakfast ...You can tell 'him a good boy'.
[oh, I have those prints there on your wall also :) ]

Yes, I read about this a couple days ago. My dogs don’t get near other dogs. They are not very socialized

She has met this big guy a couple times and recognized him. I think she likes the dog park

so dam cute, wish I could take my 2 to a dog park. Would not work out well for me.

Same here with the dog park. Newfies are so big, that other dogs think they're going to be killed so they freak out and start a fight. The Newf has a big size advantage and pins them down. You know Newfoundlands are water dogs. This morning I'm in the tub and I have to keep Diesel from crawling in with me.

What is nice about this park, is its size. It's also off-leash. The creek runs the length on one side of the 12 acres. Kind of wild at times, but dogs on a leash can feel trapped and lash out. There is a large pen where one can work with their dog. I started with my little darling one on one with other puppies her age. She was playing with one and bolted through the gate running to a pack of six dogs and has been doing fine ever since. I don't see dogs that are truly aggressive. The ones I see that act out are, in my opinion, fearful and reacting aggressively towards other dogs as a self defense. Fear Aggression can be overcome, I've done it with two dogs. One was attacked at 1 1/2 years and it left him wanting to be dominant. He didn't attack, but he wanted it understood that he was alpha, which leads to scuffles. He was a good dog and smart, so therapy worked well on him. In that pen, a dog can meet and spend time with a lone stranger known to be not aggressive. They can hang out and learn the other dog is not a threat. One good experience at a time, and with enough of them, the fear will sometimes go away completely. I see dogs at the park that don't appear to like other dogs, they never play and take an aggressive stance when approached, but they telegraph that they do like sniffing in the park when they aren't being pestered by other dogs. Their body language conveys their position, but sometimes a little growl goes with it. That, in my opinion, demands instruction of what is, and what is not, acceptable.
Note how the second to last photo is a party, playing in the creek.

It was a local neighborhood until a giant wall of water came through the narrow valley washing houses away. Walls, BBQ's, and stairs can still be seen. Socal is not so different as the City won't allow us improvements because they are waiting for the original owners to die so they can develop it. Right now, when they float a project idea somewhere in the Greenway, the original property owners say: if anything is going to happen, I'm rebuilding my house/business. As kids before the flood, we would float past the people in their back yards sitting in lawn chairs and enjoying the cool creek running by. The water temperature stays in the 40's year round. Today, the creek is 20 degrees warmer than the air and dogs are splashing around. They really love the place. It's not bad for the dozen of so Eskimo dressed human souls there right now either. Like something out of "Fargo"...eh? Who's got the Schnapps? If you pick out dogs individually from my videos, you will see a lot of tail wagging and smiles.

Diesel is so big he barely fits in a car seat. His coat is double thick keeping the snowflakes frozen.

Neko didn't have much choice, he was afraid of Cuda. Anytime Neko locked eyes with her, bitch slapping happened. Cuda's reign of terror over the dogs ended once we got Zeke and Toga. Toga thinks its a game and she is down for it.

Well we're still working on getting her first Pheasant. She found a woodcock, I missed because I'm a bad shot and I wasn't expecting it, haven't seen one in years nor hunted them.
