On a thread about dogs I should confess I'm a cat person and always have been. However when I got married, the wife had a dog she brought with her and many others came and went through the years. Sadly, the wife passed and I found myself the steward of the dogs which was OK as they were good critters. Up until a year ago I had two dogs but had to say goodbye to one, so now I'm a one-dog household. Fast forward to a lazy Sunday morning with nothing to do but drink coffee and fart around on the internet. For reasons I can't explain, I was on Petfinders looking at dogs, and saw this.

That photo said Hey Bub you don't know it yet, but I'm your dog. Come get me.
Not having any itch for a new dog I gave this some thought for a week or two while going back to the site again and again, and then decided to fill out the application to adopt. Then got interviewed by the rescue people. Then got interviewed by the local foster. All went well, and after a quick visit I gave a forever home to this fabulous friend. The first dog in my long life that is mine, and she is for sure my dog. She is loud, on alert all the time, and sheds copiously at all times. And I wouldn't trade her for anything. Sometime you win the lottery.
