Donny's 1969 GTX

Donny you are the Man! I have always loved this thread as it gives me something to look forward to once I get on to my 69 GTX. Now if I could just get you to put in a blasting shop here in TN.....LOL

Alas, a piece of original GTX metal is building a 49 Chevrolet, rather, resurrecting the 49 Chevrolet, using patch pieces here and there as I never throw scrap metal away -- always a use for it sometime, someplace and somewhere! Notice the cross-section of colors...the Q5 Seafoam Metallic color in there, then, they painted it black, then red in this cars life.

Donny, if they painted a few more colors you would've had all the colors of the rainbow there. But that would just mean mork work for you taking it off.
 
Donny,be a mobile blaster ,hahaha ,it would cost too much to be mobile across the country , we've have a few in ohio ,but there pretty much local guys , you sure would make alot of people on the site happy ,have a good one Donny :headbang:
 
Yeah, its all about balance. The mobile guys will just likely do the exterior of the car, to do 'em right, you need a rotisserie, and get it ALL, inside and outside, under and above, AND recover your blast media and re-use it. Nah, just bring me your cars...take a road trip! :)
 
New and good news! Rhode Island DMV returned my call, they found the paper trail of the GTX and can assist me in getting the paper work so I can get a title, so, this is wicked awesome news! It was on the road last from 87-92, I got it in 99.

Good deal Donny. I know how much of a pain it can be to get a title for a car that hasn't been registered or on the road for a few years.
 
Well, according to TX DOT, the paperwork I need, RI has and it will be sufficient to secure a solid Title from, which is good.
 
I believe your right Donny and its good news to hear there isint a problem!
 
Got the certified paperwork from the DMV of Rhode Island, where this car came from, shows ownership of the last known time it was registered on the roads there, and the State Law/Code stating they don't issue, require, and mandate any Title's for cars older than 2000 yr model. This should assuage Texas' requirements -- I hope! I'll stop in my friendly DOT tomorrow with paperwork and find out.

I've been in hibernation mode too long, been too busy on others' stuff, but, going to be getting busy soon again on this, along with my other B Body (going to post this same posting there too, hahaha). Ordered some more inner wheelhouses, both cars are going to get the widening treatment, and of course the spring relocation kit. The Satellite needs it as I goofed up on some key structural parts years ago, and widening will assist in fixing this issue. I just finished installing a DSE Mini Tub kit on a 69 Camaro and the customer will not need or use the stock shock mounts out back, so, was able to get about 1" more space than DSE indicated I'd have on their kit. Note to anyone contemplating this, it's not a simple task, it wasn't hard either, but, there's a lot of working and moving metal pieces that needs to be accounted for and tracked so you don't have any issues. It's also easier when the qtrs are off. Plus, my helper/contractor/employee dude will free me up from other projects to make some progress on my B Body dual-running rebuilds!
 
Cool deal Donny, I,ve been wondering how you were coming along on everything. Really missed seeing any work on your GTX.
 
Yup, pulled the GTX out from it's sleep in the back room, where it's subjected to getting dusted from Media Blasted, but not subjected to it, just dusty, man, was it every dusty! Funny thing is the tasks at hand that I was not really sure of handling on this, and the Satellite -- have been done a few times on others' cars over the past several months. And, taking a step back and looking at the 69 Camaro Mini Tubs I just finished, doing it to the MOPARS is no longer daunting!
