Don's 1969 Charger Restoration

You should do these for other people and finance your build that way. I know I'd send you a couple sets.
Yeah I have thought about it, but I already have very little time to work on my car.
Agreed! Nice work Don. You can be the Leo of hood hinges.
Thanks Sarge,
Nice job Don. Good to see your updates.
Thank you Rebel, car time is probably gonna slow down as the weather gets nicer, yard work, grandson's ball games, wifes honey do projects, camping....

** NOTE TO SELF **

Next time mounting a rear end in the car make sure after finishing you put jack stands under the axel!!

This almost ended badly as everything was ok until I was leaning on the rear of the car and I felt the car beginning to do a wheelie!
(Thank you Lord) Everything was ok, as it barley lifted.
Needless to say I quickly relocated the jack stands!

Nice! I did the same thing a long time ago with the weight too light on a project.

Grate rear end. Put forward with new 6 leaf and 2 1/2 inch recurve on my leaf spring. USA springs. Thought they might be too stiff, but they work grate. This keept me from trying to use Air shocks and shackles to get that late 69-70 rear Gant. Have fun with the project.

So the next thing I did was straighten out the rear valance and corners.

bravo......... I never hesitate to do a little dice and slice, but it's supposed to be a secret

Next up, fitting the bumper.

So after bolting it in, its a little off!

To high. It needs to come down
20240907_185034.jpg

And it's not clocked right. The top needs to rotate inward

So this is how I decided to get it clocked. I modified the bumper brackets by slicing the ends and bending it down then tacking

The drivers side need a little more rotation.
And the entire bumper needs to drop

Is there a better way to do this?

We used something like this back in my bodyshop days to align steel bumpers.
