Chances are there'll never be a failure in the field to be sued over and they're also not a certified lift to start with. Give thought to the heaviest thing you'd ever put on a 2 post lift.. our cars top out at 3600 lbs or so. This is the heaviest thing I've ever put on my made in China 9000 pound Direct Lift (Rotary Lift's "off brand".. Rotary's are also made in China!) without any issues.

It's not the C body board either! So if they over rate the lifts, then you should get a 20K lift just to CYA for a 5K auto!

Depends upon whom did the certification. Test lab or manufacture? From the vid you may not want to overload a manufacture rated lift by to much. If I caught it correctly it was overloaded by 5000 lbs.

Yes it was overloaded by 50%. My lift is not the lift in question, but 440 seems to know something I don't! LOL

My lift is certified by the same "society" that certifies licenced garage Rotary lifts.

My point was... in my original post.. they loaded it to 15000 lbs to make it fail. How much do you ever put on your lift?? Our cars weigh from 3300 to 4000 lbs.

I take more chances than I should, but when it comes to lifts, I didn’t even consider an uncertified lift.
I bought a 10,000 lb Bendpak, and so far the heaviest thing I’ve lifted was a forklift @ 7,000 lbs. with no issues.

I agree...gotta go with a nationally recognized certification authority/institute.
Otherwise, it's a gamble and we all know that time off from work, Dr bills, hospital bills, and funeral costs are significantly higher than the monies "saved" when buying cheap lifts and safety equipment.

So we have been told every time fingers need to be repaired. Safety safety. My thought is if it doesn't look or feel right best not to do it. Loading a lift should be no different.
