What’s your thoughtsIt's probably incorrect. It can either be a rear sump, a center sump or a front sump, depending on the application. Wrong pan will cause problems.
That idler arm looks incorrect. It's hard to see the pitman arm from the pictures, but I would research the idler arm. I know that on my 63 Polara, the clearance is minimal, but it doesn't come close to rubbing. What’s your thoughts
Thanks. Going to grab some measurements and compare at parts storesThat idler arm looks incorrect. It's hard to see the pitman arm from the pictures, but I would research the idler arm. I know that on my 63 Polara, the clearance is minimal, but it doesn't come close to rubbing.
Did you get a chance to look at pics?Possible wrong oil pan. Pictures as requested.
I would check for the OEM specs and compare to the one installed in your car.Thanks. Going to grab some measurements and compare at parts stores
Solid advice. ThanksI would check for the OEM specs and compare to the one installed in your car.
Solid advice also. Showing some rust anywayJust my thoughts, but Mopars didn't come with chrome pans. If you have a stock pan to compare measurements, you may find a problem there. All aftermarket pans are not created equal. Some get extra capacity in different ways.
Thanks. 971?I'm not up on the '68 through '70 B body oil pan but that one has the deep back end that was problematic with using the 440 in the '62. Centerlink was just starting to make contact after the new motor mounts settled. Found a 971 pan that has plenty of clearance. That pan is hard to find. The Moroso one shows up now and then. Some deep sump racing pans are an alternative also. Many threads on here about this.
Thanks. 971?
Thank YouLooks like maybe the 402 pan is what was factory. There's other options that don't have that deep section at the centerlink area. Check overall measurements so hopefully you can keep the same pickup. Here's some info...

if it is, then very nice car!!!
So I just replaced oil pan and clearance good. Wrong aftermarketIt's probably incorrect. It can either be a rear sump, a center sump or a front sump, depending on the application. Wrong pan will cause problems.
Replaced with a MilanWhat’d you do?
Replaced ItDid you find out what the issue was?
i have the same problem in a 69 runner with the 383
I had the same problem on my 70 Charger with a 440. I found out that someone had previously installed the wrong oil pan. I don't recall for sure, but I think I purchased and installed the "402" oil pan and that fixed the problem; no more clearance issues.Drag link on my 68 GTX is rubbing oil pan...
New Idler arm looks shorter than Pitman
Is there a drag link with more clearance ?
Maybe oversized oil pan?
Just acquired this car
Anybody ran into this?
