Eclipse....

We just finished watching it. Used the 5x7 welding helmet glass. Worked perfectly. Got about 62% eclipse here. woohoo. It peaked for us at 2:40pm.

I used an auto darkening hood and with sensitivity adjust --it worked just fine.
Also I'm in a 99.3% zone and the light at -total -seemed like full moonlight does but the light was less white.

These two pictures are of the crescent sunlight coming through the trees on my deck.
The first is before total and the other is after.--Note the crescents are reversed--

Really? The moon doesn't rotate like the earth? I did not know that.

The dark side was not dark but it was still out of sight. The moonies on that side were indeed seeing the (sun) light. :)

Not much of an eclipse in Fort Myers FL, they said it would be 81% coverage, I think they may have meant 18%.....if that much!:( Typical media hysteria.

What I am looking forward to is a good high point view (and follow) of the shadow crossing the land at 1800mph. (did not know the speed at the time I saw it).
I witnessed this in 1979 from a great viewpoint but at the time was only looking for the light to go out. I saw it coming from one horizon to the other and barely followed it by turning my head 180degrees.

we were 82% and it was like something was missing from the light spectrum.

almost like when it looks green or yellow during or just before a storm.

not dark at all.

through the welding shade, I could clearly see the sliver of sun with the rest blocked out.

IIRC for us in FL, there will be a 100% eclipse in 2032.
