Adding the AVS2 to my stock 383. The manual states to check the old carburetor vacuum port to see if there is full vacuum at idle or not. My old Carter did have a vacuum so I should then hook up the vacuum line to the drivers side port on the AVS since the passenger side is for port timed. So how do I adjust the idle adjustment screws with my vacuum gauge if the open connector does not have a vacuum at idle? Maybe temporarily disconnect the distributor vacuum line and hook up the gauge to that for the adjustment?

The ported fitting shouldn't be giving a vacuum signal at idle. The driver's side fitting is manifold vacuum, usually intended for cars with transmission vacuum modulators (also refer to the Edelbrock online setup/troubleshooting videos). Does the rpm change while adjusting the screws at idle? Try adjusting the mixture screws to obtain the highest rpm and readjust the curb idle speed afterwards.

Thanks for the responses. It is one of those why didn’t I think of that answers. Will use a T connector and check it that way.
