Edelbrock's cant leak unless there is a crack in the housing. I've never seen the bowl crack on one. After a day or two the bowl should still have fuel. The pump should still squirt. A few weeks or more the few may evaporate. Sounds like a pump or very low float level. I'd remove the lid after it sets with the main body still on the engine. If there fuel in it?

Yeah I'm going to do just that. And also see about replacing cup on accelerator pump

Yeah your right that's pretty unlikely,I was thinking Q-jet.

One more vote for the accelerator pump cup. No way the float bowl is going to evaporate overnight.

Before removing the carb top, get the engine running so the pump fills the fuel bowls.
Then kill the engine and pull the carb top off and check the fuel level in the bowls.
Fuel level should be about even with the notch in the plate that seperates the front and back part of the bowl(s).
If fuel level is low, the accelerator pump won't function correctly, and the carb will want to run lean.
Just saying that the correct fuel level is the first part in tuning the carb.

Ive run the pair of Eddys on my race car for 8 years. Prior to that they had been setting since 2002. Never have swapped the pump or any gaskets for that matter. Had them apart many times over the years. If the accelerator plunger adjustment is much higher than 1/2" from the top of the bowl it will push fuel back into the float bowl.

I had the same issue with one of mine.

It turned out to be the metal fuel line rusting on the inside.

I put a clear fuel filter on it so i could see if the bowl had fuel in it after sitting over night, and it showed rusty fuel.

Replaced the line and the problem went away.

Funny that it never clogged or failed to start, except after it had just been run, and then sat.

I learned the fuel level issue on my old Carter 750. I kept jetting it up and up, and it still seemed to run lean with little accelerator pump enrichment, so I even installed larger shooters. Once I corrected the fuel level, I had to back out all the other changes to the normal shooters and jetting.

Just a side not that you may already be aware of, but was not mentioned. Remember that the accelerator pump has 3 settings. IF you are set on the minimum setting, readjusting it to a longer stroke might help.

well turns out it was the accelerator pump. thanks to everyone for your help
