Finally after years of trying get one, I picked up an NOS today and the guy threw in some Holley 500's and a new linkage. It is going to go on top of my small block in my '65. Should look awesome!

that looks nice!
It does look nice. You need to be careful though, as pretty powder coating colors may not be of a chemistry that will resist gas/oil without staining. Secondly, they may discolor over time from engine heat. Powder mfr's typically make trade offs when formulating colors; how it sprays, how well it takes a charge, how opaque it is, how much gloss is desired, scuff/mar resistance, overbake resistance, UV resistance, clear top coat required for durability, etc. I've seen gorgeous powder finishes that will discolor with windex.

An epoxy powder coating will provide the best chemical resistance. Unfortunately there aren't tons of fancy colors formulated in epoxy.

Do you remember how many years ago I had this RPM-AG done by you?
I don’t see any “discoloring “ do you?

I'd have to look at invoices Rob but would guess it's been more than a few years.

In the meantime though, here's twelve years' worth of a little "light reading" for you @peabodyracin.
http://phoenixspecialtycoatings.com/psc-feedback.html. I have the feeling there's a whole bunch of people who might disagree with your epoxy comment. :D

Here's a few pics for @hemidart1 to consider if you want to protect that sweet new score!! I finished it up a couple weeks ago.

Thank you Don!!! It needed a LOT of metal work but it turned out pretty nice. I can't wait to hear from my customer and see his mock up pics.

What carbs are going on it

This is a paste from my customer's message: "It’s going to have brand new 4150 Holley carbs on it, new air cleaner, all new plumbing, titanium brackets for the throttle return spring and the throttle cable and ARP stainless steel fasteners unless I can find some titanium screws. I am hoping the true hotrodder will appreciate the design, engineering, and execution of the build."

It appears I've insulted or otherwise hurt someone's feelings here. That was not my intent. I don't know you, or your business. I'd simply seen the comment about powder coating a manifold with something called Alien Silver.

If you read my post again you'll see I said "may" more than once. Not trying to malign your or any else's powder coating business.

I ran a job shop powder coating facility for 20 years. $4.5-$5 Million annual sales. Retired two years ago. We were a certified coating shop for two mainstream powder manufacturers and painted for John Deere, Harley, GE/Roper, Kawasaki, Cummins, etc. We also catered to local walk ins, car clubs, cycle enthusiasts, aviation enthusiasts, drag racers, etc.

In that time I'd pretty much seen it all, including the Harley guy who came in mad as heck because he'd sprayed EZ-Off oven cleaner on his hot engine, for which we'd recently painted grey wrinkle, and it stained the finish.

One guy had spent a small fortune having someone else powder coat a pile of car parts for him, only to have it all give him problems because they'd not used an appropriate chemistry for the application. In my humble opinion, most of the time these folks have run into someone working out of their garage, buying powder on line and curing in Mom's oven. It looks like things are going well for you and you obviously know your business. I wish you the best in your continued success.

I'm not insulted LOL ... and I include a care sheet with every job so hopefully my customers don't do stupid stuff like scrub it with brake cleaner. Thanks for your input!

Mr. hemidart1, Do you by any chance still have those Radir Cheater Slicks you offered for sale in one of your posts?

Thanks, Scott
