Edelbrock vicktor mw port heads

There are no new Koleno or Mopar blocks. Marty Koleno died. Expect to pay $3500 for a used one. If you can find one. For a new block Indy aluminum is the only game in town. KB is producing blocks again but $7000. Not sure how quick to get one. If you're interested in a used motor I have friend with a -1 headed 540.

Ok thanks

Those knock offs flow real well Bob. Any dyno numbers or time slips for them? What are they on? You may have mentioned before but I can't recall now.

no dyno, just calculated from the best two engine calculators. Was copied and built for over 700h.p., one calculator showed 723, the other showed 753. but showed a hotter cam. So 723 should be about right, besides losing 30 h.p. for my mech fan> LOL . Its in a 68 barracuda fastback , 3273 pounds, 440/505. fast 2.0 f.inj., 10.3/10.5 c.r., .620 lift street solid roller cam, heads cnc`d standard port, 727/3500/3800 convertor , 3:73 dana 60/ Detroit locker. ( look at avatar pic) Yeah its crowded in there! Heads would be better in a B body as far as room goes! My best friend has a flow bench, we tested two diff intakes I have been playing with, both almost flow as much as the heads! Stlil working on the tuning", when I mess w/ it"!

451 do you know by chance when Edelbrock started using the longer heli coils?

It's been quiet awhile, maybe 5 years ago when I got the Hughes CNC ported heads? The issue I had was with a set of the very early castings when they first starting selling the MW Victors.
Many of us with the MW victor heads are using valve springs that need a 2.00" install height to run about 0.750+" lift, but Edelbrock pretty much designed the head for stock installed valve spring heights. On my set of heads we used +0.100" retainers and machined down spring locators. The spring locators are normally 0.060" thick, and we had them machined down to 0.030" thick. You need to be careful if you try cutting the valve spring seat lower in the head as it can break into the top of the intake port (been there and done that.) I don't recall if we used the +0.050" locks? I think we may have? We also used valve lash caps to extend the valve tip for clearance between the inside of the rocker arm to the outer edge of the retainer. Because we used the Max Wedge style rocker shaft blocks after milling off the cast in rocker stands, we could adjust the height of the rocker shaft by how much the block/stands were milled. Because we were still using the stock rocker shaft holes to locate the blocks, we could only adjust the height, and not the horizontal distance to the valves, so the rocker arm geometry is OK, but not perfect. After messing with these heads for years, finally have then where I'm not breaking stands, studs, and shafts.

Is Stage V still around? They made a HEMI conversion head for the wedge blocks.

Someone posted CNC ported version flow 460 cfm?

I didn’t go with the Victors do to many of the previous comments. If I was building a “race” engine I would probably have gone B1, or the Indy-1. But cost and plan made the choice for me.

I was able to use Comp Cams steel roller rockers on my cleaned up Trick Flow 270s. Saved half the cost of the recommended T&D rockers. My “street” engine dyno’d +700hp. Not in a car yet.

Wow thanks for all the opinions I guess I kind of got it narrowed down these trick flow 270 don't sound bad I might look into getting them ported even more or brodix the B1 Mo head is the one I'm looking at

If I was doing my engine again I’d probably go with the trick flows. I’m no engine builder by any means but From what I’ve heard the Brodix heads are just as much a pain to set up as the victors

I can't recall hearing how the Trick Flow 270's are working on the track yet. Has anyone been out with theirs and have any passes to share?

I believe @Schober Motorsports had his out on the track, hung a valve first time out but trick flow made it right. He has a thread posted here with time slips.

Why does anyone ever even considering any head except INDY ?
I have the INDY standard port INDY SEZ heads that I recently had brought out to MAX WEDGE size and ported to about 330cfm.
When I had these standard port SEZ heads (unported) brought out to MAX WEDGE size and then ported to 330cfm I picked up 3/10th of a second on my quarter mile ET.
My 3800lb Coronet runs 10.15's at 131+.
I now have 135 runs on these heads and no problems whatsoever.
Yes, Indy customer service and attitude to racers kinda sucks, but......

This motor has ported-1. Went 9.00@150, 3345lbs last Saturday.

I think it is so cool that you do that with a pair of Eddies on top. I’m impressed.

Just curious what kind of car what's all done to it gears size tire converter
64 Belvedere. All steel except hood. Stock front suspension. Stock rear frame rails with ladder bars. Dana, have run both 4.10/4.30, 10.5 x31 M/T, 9.5" Ultimate converter, push button 727.

See what I'm basically trying to do is get I want my car to run ten twenties on motor and then I can spray it into the nines and maybe a 8:99 on a good day.

Low 10's is pretty basic. Plenty of combos around that live long happy lives in that range. If you don't mind buying good gas more compression and good heads will make it easy.

Low 10’s you can basically take your pick with heads, victors, trickflow, Indy’s they’ll all do it
