Embarrassed: one lug nut won't budge

How about using a cutoff wheel to partially split lug nut. Not much room to grind.

Ya, my 4 1/2" grinder (most useful tool I ever bought) or die grinder with a cutoff wheel would have no problem.

What type of lug nuts? 4 years ago I took one of my Dakotas in to get 4 new tires. I go back to get the truck and they had only changed 3. On the last wheel they had rounded the lug nut off totally. Too stupid to see past his nose, let alone change a tire. This guy never blew the dust off of the lug nuts and had been using too bad a socket on the first tire. Luckily he learned quickly. Anyway those 90s trucks had those cheesy 2 piece lug nuts. And the round off easily. I had to take it home and very very carefullyon use a cutting torch to melt away the nut/stud. Then take it back to get it finished.

It was the bottom left stud on this wheel. You can still see just a slight mark around the hole. Took me an hour, but I didn't damage my Aluminum wheels.
I've since replaced every lug nut on every vehicle I own with nice one piece lugnuts

I just got off the phone with a friend of a friend that runs a local Brake Max franchise. Nice guy, and a dedicated motor head. He said to bring the car down early some Saturday and he will 'bust all the lugs loose' for me.
He also added that his 1968 GMC has original drum brakes 'that work great if you know what you're doing when you fix them'. I still want disc, but I'll pay him to look the brakes over since he is busting loose all of the lugs for me.
Probably go the first Saturday in Feburary, but in the meantime I might try drilling an access hole in the lug to squirt some penetrating fluid.

Good luck - What a pain in the ***. I switched my driver side studs/lugs over to right hand turns during the restoration. Now I just have to remember I did that - and that anyone that deals with the wheels knows that. Funky thing that Ma Mopar did with that.

If it's the driver side, what is the chance that the tire tech didn't realize it was left hand thread, broke off the stud, and replaced it with a right hand stud and didn't say anything? For this reason, I won't let the guys touch my wheels, I show up with my own tools and take off and put back on the wheels myself.

Go with drilling a hole&penetrating oil. I would have snapped it off by now.LOL.

Get an RBBB and twist that thing off
(Really big breaker bar) if you don't have your own impact gun. They make new ones everyday.
Gotta hand it to ya, you've got patience.

Okay okay okay........it's OFF. I think the triflow must have soaked in, and I used an industrial heat gun (set to 700 degrees which is a low setting) to gently heat the lug. I would heat it until it 'smelled', then let it cool awhile. Did this three times, then the breaker bar and it slowly came loose.

Drum is off. I'll start a new thread pertaining to what I see.

I'm shocked it wasn't cross threaded! Make sure you chase the threads on that stud and lug.

Good deal, I would have gone through about half a pack of bandaids and a full pack of smokes before now.
Couple hints on the brakes, use your phone to take pics if a novice.
I picked a 69 C body ratty, greasy FSM from my local DODGE dealer a couple years ago. They cover all the same mechanical stuff, and better than Chilton or Motor manuals.

Judging by the looks of the wheel, it looks like it wouldn't have mattered if you did.

Hate to revive a painful thread, but the lug nuts on all wheels (drivers and passenger sides) are marked

Safe to assume all right hand threads on all wheels?

Most left hand studs will have a "L" stamped in the end of it. If there are threads showing, you can see that they are angled different.
