Mystery Solved.

Made appontment with machanic and no start this morning --had to be towed.

Ballast working OK. Put a test light on input and got bright --moved to output and still lit but much dimmer. ECU still working but in the process of failing with drippage of insulation.

It was a failed pickup coil.

Glad I didn't try it. No experience with Mopar electronic ignitions.

Here is an old Mopar Master Tech film about the electronic ignition. The first part explains how it works. Pretty simple really. The last part shows using the tester to diagnose trouble.
