Engine starts but won't run after key is released. Ignition switch problem?

Thanks, everyone for your advice. I ended up replacing the 'run' wire thru the bulkhead and wired it directly to ballast resistor. Also replaced the 'start' wire while I was in there. She starts and runs great now. So now I have a new ballast resistor and all new wires from a new ignition switch.

I have had the Magnetic pickup in the distributor fail, with the same symptoms. I have carried spare ballast resistors in my cars for 50 years, and have never had to use one.
