Newbe here. Yes, another thread asking about an exhaust recommendation.

I've read dozens of posts here about exhaust and all they do is make me more confused.

I'm hoping that the readership here can help me out on my exact situation.

I just purchased the car pictured. It has a 440 with headers, 2 1/2" exhaust with 20" long dynomax ultraflo mufflers.

Problem is, it is LOUD inside! Between 45 and 55mph you can't even have a conversation. After 15 minutes of driving, you have a headache!

I don't mind a nice rumble, but I need to at least hear myself think!

So what do you recommend, different mufflers or resonators?

And with mufflers or resonators, can you recommend specific ones that will quite it down a lot. ( I dont mind losing a few horsepower)

Also I've read of people recommending glasspacks (Like cherry bombs) as resonators. Would those be better or units designed as resonators?

Thanks to all!

i bought cheep summit mufflers to get on the road thought i would want a different brand but after hearing i liked the sound and not to loud as speed and no droning.

Glasspacks would help, but they IMO do not solve your problem, a muffler change is in order, and the addition of ANY H pipe would be a better direction.

Pretty Car. Love color and the Vinyl roof look.

Change the mufflers. Borla if you can but they are pricey.
Or the Summit ones mentioned by vance.dykes

I changed the Wife's 340 Swinger from some no name style Turboflows to Dynomax Supers and it quieted it down a bit from the dragster that it was.

If you think those Dynoflows are too loud then I'd suggest the only cure is stock manifolds and full OE exhaust.

I always default to: Do what Chrysler did, or would have done.

You just missed a pair of repop Hemi mufflers for $100 delivered.

Answer: Hemi mufflers

It does have a H pipe.

I went with Walker mufflers. They are only 2-1/4”, but I can hear again

It does have a H pipe.
I'm just thinking out loud here (pun intended), I wonder what the result might be for having a second H pipe installed but at an (slight?) angle to help reduce resonances (drone)?

Dynomax Super Turbo are the ones I like. They were designed with assistance from David Vizard although they have changed them just enough from the original that they no longer have to pay him a royalty. They still flow (and sound, IMO) better than anything else out there!

TTI. QTP. Dynomax Superturbos. In that order.

TTI. QTP. Dynomax Superturbos. In that order.
TTI = Dynomax Super Turbo

QTP = Copy of Dynomax Super Turbo without the patented "flow directors" developed by David Vizard and with optional cutout

= Dynomax Super Turbo in any order

I used to put UltraFlows on my cars, but as I got older, I now much prefer DynoMax SuperTurbos.

Another vote for Dynomax super turbo.
