You didnt get blown away with the 2nd wave of storms did you?Looked like they passed right over you.3" hail near Wild Rose.Funnel cloud near Dale.

You bet Jay......Two Tornado warnings in the same hour..Just got out of the basement. That was nutz! Lighting going off every quarter second. Got the trucks in garage just in time. Still some pretty big balls of hail laying in the lawn

hey will good looking work there.what were you doing, letting that wasp give you a hickie.did you overlay your floor pans on the floor hump or weld it edge to edge?I think you have to take your column loose from the steering box and then pull it thru the firewall.there should be a cover plate at the end of your column with four tabs, just lift them up and your column should slide out.great info on the steering wheel resto.

Wow Will glad the twisters missed ya'! Mother nature is a bitch! Hope the project is coming nicely!!

Thanks fella's......Crazy weather for this time of year Ben! I was tooling around on my snowmobile 2 weeks ago, now tornado's??? Roger, on the pans... I did not buttweld them up. I cut the tunnel about 1/2" deeper than the pans, then used an air flange gun on the edge..Thanks for the tip on the column

Decided to tackle the cowl tonight.......

A-Pillar is leaded in just like the quarter to roof and quarter to rocker transition.

A little Map Gas and she's melted out

After a healthy dose of drilling out spot welds and grinding out welds by the pillar, old cowl is off..

When I got off the cowl I was Stunned!!!! I cannot believe it wasn't rotton under there. Real unexpected! Just another mouse hotel..

Test fit the new AMD cowl..Fit up pretty dang good, but there will to be some tweaking here and there.

Got the cowl all cleaned up...Ready to coat and apply new sealer around pleneum's. After that primer and finally some body color!!

You lucked out Prop, it looks pretty solid under there! You using panel adhesive on the upper cowl?

Damn!! I've never taken a cowl off anything before.

Premo mouse nest you found there, that would have smelled nice when you hit the heater huh?

Going with metal 2 metal on the cowl to a-pillar seam for this too?

Sure did luck out Matt! I'll be sealing the cowl with a weldable sealant then the typical welding back on... Here's the stuff I use:

I did not decide yet to either go with Duraglass or metal to metal there Dave... Probably metal to metal I imagine

Your right, glad I found the mouse house before going down the road and opening the vent.......Chocolate sprinkles and Pee ridin rodent stuffing everywhere!

wow will its been a while since ive been on looks like you've been cooking right along on that thing. its also good to see you and Jay didnt get too much out of that storm last weekend. im thinking before the month is over i'll probably pull mine out of storage and see what i can afford to do

Thanks goat! Not too bad of damage around here from the storms..I had off of work monday becaust the power was down for about 48 hours. Some pretty bad damage down in parts of Neenah & Menasha as well as Kaukauna where the two twisters rolled through. Now they're calling for snow on saturday. What the hell???

That must be the same mouse, that is exactly how the mouse filled mine lol. Although I went the lazy way and just took the three minutes and pulled the vent tube down inside the car and checked for rust and removed the little guys nest. You can see up there good with the vent tube pulled out.

Had a little of that lovely white stuff here in Sheboygan this morning.Lookin like i may have to fire the stove up again in the shop this weekend

Awesome work Prop, the car is looking good. What is the exact product name of that weldable sealer, I cant read the label?

Thanks
Robert.

Thanks Robert,

It's called Everflex Bondaprene SB-1800 Weldable Sealant. Works pretty good if you don't throw tons of heat into it.. I buy it from this place, cheapest place I found:

Jay, out by the lake eh? Out there operating crane? Got to be one heck of a stiff wind blowing off that water..

Yeah Russ, I need to find easier ways to get out the mouse houses..LOL. Actually there was cracked up bondo and rust on one side of the cowl as well as the vent openings being bent all up by someone using a pry bar or shoe horn to remove the wipers in the past. Friggin mice are the biggest mopar fans I know!

I think I'll be making a reach up into that mouse nest area to see what kind of goodies I can find.

Yep,we have 5 bridges there being redone on I-43.My home away from home during the week for another couple months.Makes for mighty slow progress on the car.

I bet Jay. On the bright side, at least you're gainfully employed to be able to shove cash
into your Roadrunner...

Worked off and on the roadrunner this weekend...

I rust Bullet coated around the Pleneum areas and brought down the cented of the inner cowl with some 150 grit, getting ready for primer..

e2-4.jpg

Mixed up some PPG 2K Urethane primer I mixed as a sealer, sprayed and then wet sanded down with some 500 Grit in the center section of the inner cowl where actual body color paint is going to be applied. I applied 3M brushable seam sealer around the pleneum base on the outside and inside. After that, sprayed some weld through primer on the mating lips that will be welded to the outer cowl.

So I've been thinking about a color for this car ever since it arrived in my driveway..
Red, Blue, Silver, Black... As soon as I would get comfortable with the idea of a color for the car, another color would spark my interest.

Since the inner cowl needs body color paint in the center where you can see through the outer cowl vents, it was time to pick and apply a color for the car.

So...........Old Skeletor is going to be painted.............................

e1-4.jpg

Yep! Black!! Just like my dad's back in the day. In my opinion, black really makes a car look mean! Especially a roadrunner

After all dried, I applied 3M Body Schultz around the painted areas on the inner cowl

e7-1.jpg

As well as getting the inner cowl all set for the outer cowl to go on, I got one of the Auto Rust Technicians "Safe T Cap" jigged up and welded on the torsion bar, front rail junction. They accidently sent me two left side caps, so I should receive and weld on the right side some time this week.

e4-3.jpg

Wire wheeled down to bare metal the entire interior pan areas up to the start of the trunk pan and scuffed down the E-Coat on the new pans with some 180 Grit, getting ready for a layer of rust bullet..

e5-2.jpg

Got the whole area coated and then applied Evercoat seam sealer to all the seams. I have to admit the evercoat seam sealer lays on much easier than the 3M.
