I was wondering were you have been Ben. Glad to see ya. Hope the big move is going good for you. Also good to hear you're sticking with your dreams and bending some strings again...You ever get super famous, i'll be sure to sign up as a roadie....Well, as long as I can sport a flannel with cut off sleeves, covered by a synthetic leather vest. It would go well with my "Johnny Cash Black" mullet I would also be sporting.

I'd say give the stang a shot Ben. They sure hold their ranks and respect like our beloved mopars. One of America's pinnacle sports cars. Besides, sounds like a smokin deal and any parts you may need will generally be easier to find and cheaper than ours as well.

speaking of the topic found a 70 fastback mustang I was thinking of saving from the crusher, real solid roller no rust,pretty damn decent interior,perfect dash,good title,ugly puke green! overall solid none the less going to the crusher!?? Why?? Hell if I know? I am about 98% mopar or no car guy,but even I feel bad seeing a perfectly good fast back pony go to waste cuz some dumbass kid lost interest in it!
I have a 4.6 police intercepter engine w/ a marauder air box that my friend is holding onto, along w/ a transmission all w/ paperwork proving it was a test model ran 4 25k for police demonstrations, all computers everything, 4 $450 out the door to me! Gets me thinkin' maybe a 4.6 70 fastback stanger w/ a 5 speed may make a decent driver?? Better than it biting the big one and rusting to nothing buried under a pile of scrap!? Well anyway we can't save em all But U are doing a helluva job Will!!

I kinda got a soft spot for those things, if you decide you aint interested...

Not a whole lot done tonight...Wife was complaining I don't pay enough attention to her or something like that....I don't know, I really wasn't listening....LOL hehehehe J/K

Whipped up a support insert to drop in that weak torsion bar T area. Nothing special, just trying to put some support back in, and like the other side an auto rust technician Safe T Cap will be going over that as well after being sealed. I'll add in some bulkhead braces after it's welded in place

Johnny Cash mullet!! LoL! He's 1 of my heroes so that would be totally acceptable! I would have to hold U to the cut off flannel and the leather vest idea! Lmao! If I get famous I would love to take U and Matt,Mario and anybody else I may be 4 getting! (Sorry) Be really cool to be surrounded by my friends if all this get's moving in the right direction! Worst case scenario I end up a high school/college music teacher! At least I get paid to do something I love so screw it!
I will be posting my show dates and tour dates because as soon as I get the funds to foot the bill for the tour I will be traveling again! Roads crazy but fun,and it's the only way to make a living at it. So be sure to look 4 the shows in the "General Discussion" Area,may be in your neighborhood! That's pretty much it for right now until the originals come! But if U like good blues then U will have a good time! I would'nt dream of playing these songs to anything but the height of my ability and only want everyone to come and enjoy the music! And one day hopefully U will all be seeing me at places like "The Crossroads Guitar/Blues fest" playing next to Clapton!
Anyway Will hope all is well! And keep up the amazing progress!!

Got the pan fitted in to mark up my drilling/cut line's.......

Got that little insert pounded in. Once welded in place, I welded in some 3/16" bulkhead/support braces

After a hour of grinding, sanding and wire wheeling off the rust , tossed on a
couple coats of rust bullet. Pan will be welded in place soon..

Hey thanks gentlemen! Apprecite the kind words and encouragment...

One thing I should probably note.....I took initial measurements from the bottom of the rockers to the floor and from the bottom of the torsion bar before riping out the pans.

After pulling the crusty pan off the passenger side, I noticed when closing the door, there wasn't a nice smooth click when shutting, but felt tension when securing shut. I took the measurement again and noticed the car sagged 1/4" on that side. I was able to remedy that with a jack and a couple 2" X 4"s. Once the new pan was in and the jack came down, the car was exactly where I initially measured it. Obviously my car had some weakness in that torsion crossmember area, but goes to show how much stress/support is up there...The driver's side I placed a jack under before even riping out the pan. If someone did a full pan replacement it sure would be in their best interest to brace first.

I liberated my lower tail pan from the back of the trunk floor last night with no other structure supporting the tops of my quarters and she wanted to drop. I lined it all back up to the spot welds I drilled and I installed a threaded (adjustable) support to each side supporting off the rear spring mount area.

Really a good idea to measure stuff before you do too much cutting on these things.

Got my pan drilled and fitted/secured in..all that's left is welding it in.

Horn Ring and steering wheel removal.......


I know my pal's that swing by this thread on a regular basis would consider this task a gravy train, but I do see horn ring/pad and wheel removal questions come up on FBBO. I got a little time to kill, so for you guys that never tackled taking apart this stuff, here you go..........

First of all, Disconnect power from the battery.....

Use a nylon trim removal tool to work out the horn button. A screw driver is more likely to cause damage to the outside of the plastic button or possibly scratch the decal off from the back side.

Once the button is out, you will notice a 7/16" screw that holds the horn pad in place..Remove the nut, horn pad comes off..

Next is the horn ring..take out the three phillips screws to remove

Now you're down to the horn striker, remove the three outlying screws and it comes off.

Once that is free, don't forget to slide the female clip for the horn wire of the clip... Now grab a 3/4" Socket, hold the steering wheel in place and remove the center securing nut......

Once that nut is off, the wheel will most likely not come off yet.. You'll need a 2 bolt puller to pull the wheel off the rest of the way..

Wallaaa! Wheel is off..Since the wheel is off, take a good look at your turn signal switch. Those 2 little wires on top, one white, one red, like to break around that corkscrew curve and where they run in from that. Usually this can be fixed. Next time your brake lights don't work but your brake switch is good, or your turn signals don't work and you just checked all your grounds and you have power...Start looking at these two little guys. I've had them break right in this area on 3 mopars in the past..

The metal horn ring trim and turn signal selector arm, as well as a column shift lever (if you have one) love to pepper up with rust as the years go by..

Before you go running to a metal plating shop, just hit it with some #0000 extra super fine steel wool..Just after a few seconds they look new again. If you wanted to go a step further than this, hit it with some compound and a buffing wheel and they'll shine like chrome

Thanks.....Probably looks a little bit different since last time you seen her face to face. Tossed the sleds on the trailer last week. Think the fun's over till next December. Sucks..Ahh well. Paint should be splashed on come june/july.

Well, after putting up with some severe storms/hail and then being lucky enough to get stung in the throat by a wasp, decided to call it a day and and just sit back with a couple brews...


Floor is all welded in along with the belt buckle supports, parking brake cable support and console bracket...

Also ripped out the heater box and dash... Guys, how the hell does the column come all the way out??? I honestly have never ripped out a full column

Dash is on it's way to the only spot blaster around an hour south of here..
