Family Tradition

I think even tire rack has a similar tool.

I've kind of got my eye on a new wheel from Rocket wheels...

I saw them in a rod & custom magazine a little while back, the ad said something like $185, shoot I didn't think that sounded too bad.

Before hitting up the roadrunner this weekend, decided to pull the Coronet out of storage finally. Sure is nice to see the old girl back in my driveway...

Jumped on preping skeletor for primer in the jams and the engine bay

Went with the PPG Epoxy....

q4-5.jpg

Spayed on pretty nice with a 1.8MM tip @23 PSI at the gun. Pretty thick stuff. Mixes up with a catalyst at a 2:1 ratio. Once dried, hard as a rock.

Moved on to preping the doors for paint. Scuffed down the e-coat with 400 grit and 3M scotch pads.

Decided to spray the doors and jams with single stage. That way once I have the doors and fenders on and aligned, I do not need to remove them again when she is at paint. The body will be base coat/clear coat. The single stage on the jams-inner doors cut out a little more work that would have been needed for the clear/base, but still are just as tough and look just as good.

This stuff sprayed on great. Real easy to dial in. 20PSI at the gun with a 1.5MM tip. Mixes as a 8:2:1 Primer, Reducer, Hardener. I don't know if anyone recognizes the paint code or not, but the 9300 is a premium Chrysler Black. OMNI is a pricey, but outstanding paint. You dial in and spray it right, it can easily look just as good as base/clear, before you even touch it with wet sand and a buffer.

I believe you are making Chrysler corporation look bad with the quality of this.. looking fantastic!

looking really good prop, I can smell the sweet aroma of the epoxy from MN, and the Omni too. 2 completely specific and unique smells lol!!

I have color envy.

Lookin' good Prop! Nice 500 convert too, lets see some more pics of it.

Thanks Ron! Trying to improve the car where ever I can. Love ma Mopar, but some ideas of their's just don't jive with mine.

Appreciate it Dave...The primer/paint smell is a nice change from grinded metal and burning cloth's of not too long ago. To actually see paint finally making it to some point on the car was almost cause for celebration.

Thanks wing and good to see you. Haven't seen you floating around in a while......Here's some more shots of the yellow gas vacuum.

Wish I had more exciting things to report, but i'm in the process of taking care of some of the IMO, boring stuff........

Changed out the driver/passenger aft window seals. Got the replacements from R/T specialties. Yank the old ones out, lay the new into place and use a screw driver to pop
the bottom lip of the seal into the slot. Pretty easy

Also changed out the front wing vent guide seals..These puppies are not the easiest to find and are pricey!! $65.00 a side from Roseville Motors. Good thing I guess is they are right from Mopar.. Pretty self explainatory to change these out. They're cut to fit.

Did some work on the padded center from the steering wheel. The foam was pulling away from the metal core. Picked up some slow cure epoxy at the hobby shop to bond her back together. This stuff does not have any type of solvent in it, so it will not eat the foam...Turned out great! I'll get an after pic when I toss some new batteries in the camera.

The doors are all completely assembled now.. For anyone that has not tried putting all the guts and frame work into the door's, you're in for a treat. Not very fun trying to work off mirrors and twist your arms in ways they shouln't be twisted..

Damn Prop, is there anything you don't know how to do?? Curious, are you insulating the inside of the doors with anything to quiet it down a bit? Looking great man, getting excited for you.

LOL......Quite a few things I don't Daryn, including keeping my billfold from igniting in flames.
As far as the doors, I plan on adding Fat Max deadener to them as well as the floors.

Thanks to a bit of help from the wife.....Doors are back on guys!
