Family Tradition

Glad you like the pic's gent's. Pretty sure I found another spot in this great land that I plan on camping/hiking at down the road soon.

Great pics prop.

I checked in here today to see if I needed to get back to work on the tin chicken.

I'm not seeing the restoration inspiration I was looking for though... So I guess I can just coast for a little while longer... :eusa_whistle:

come on will now your lack of progress is giving others the excuse to slack off lol jk

LOL! Sorry fella's. Crazy busy at work right now, holiday just around the corner and I started back at flight school again. Even the wife is starting to seem like a roomate I see her so little.....

I know, I know...enough whining already and get to work. I'll be heading over to the shop after the holiday. You can alrady start to smell fall in the air around here, so I guess the summer fun is over with. Time to get rolling on the bird again.

My own excuses for my moprastination (I made a new word) are plentiful.

Too hot and sticky, wouldn't want to rust the car with my stinky sweaty hands....

Yard work....

Rain delay...

The dog ate my sander...

The kid up the street didn't have to build his own mopar, he just bought a finished one....

(i can do this all day)

Will, it was good to talk to you on the phone last week.good luck on your kami-kazi training I MEAN FLIGHT TRAINING. my oldest brother has his pilot's license also. That charger i talked to you about,i talked to the previous owners last night and it is getting closer to becoming mine 100% with title.Call me ANYTIME if you know you will be in my area, i do not mind driving somewhere to meet another member.

Been terrible muggy here to, cutting and splitting wood a real treat in it!. Good luck to you prop, looking forward to the updates! OH, that wood really will be a treat in a few months, I didn't say nothin about white stuff! :eek:ops: sorryyyy....

Yeah, you all got snow ready to fly in a month or two at most from now...I almost forgot that little mandatory preparation being from NH! The weather change I have to look fwd to is getting down in the high 50s low 60s; perfect weather for doing everything!

Nice talking with you as well Roger. I'll be sure to give you a ring and swing by next time i'm down towards your neck of the woods. And, if you're up this way, be sure to look me up. Looks like you guys had a good time over in MN.

Flying went pretty good Saturday. Had my first dig at making landings. Few things came out of that days training:
-There's a Beechcraft Sport up here with some pretty abnormal wear patterns on the tires
-Airplanes can and will bounce if poorly operated
-If it wasn't for my instructor, there would have been a smoldering pile of me and airplane at Wittman field.

Good luck on that Charger! Hope it works out.

Splitting wood isn't any fun in any climate. A man's gotta have heat though. Been Chilly here Ron. Hitting the 40's at night for the past few days. Bring on the Snow!!!! Been itching to fire up the sleds.

I see I'm not the only one to busy to get any work done on there projects...

No doubt Matt! When does it end? Seems like I get one thing done, but in the meantime, 7 other things magically appear. Hopefully The Dog gets some "me time" soon. I know "skeletor" has to be getting pretty pissed by now. I WILL be down by the bird tomorrow.

I don't mind the snow Donny..I play in the stuff and it's usually warmer out when it snows hard. It's the -20 to -30F below crap that bugs me. Toss on a bit of wind and the -50 to -60F wind chills will have a guy hugging his furnace like it's about to take off into space. Ah well, I'm more apt for dressing for the cold than cooking in the heat.

Been ordering tons of parts lately. I mentioned it in some other threads, but just gotta mention again how great my dealings with Roseville moparts and Jeff over at 521 have been. Last stuff I ordered from both was here in two days after ordering!!!!!!!! All accurate orders as well.

Damn Prop, you fly too? and I thought Skelator was wearing you out?! LOL If you gotta get away this winter, give me a shout, I picked up a sled last winter. I have a huge house with lots of room (base) and only 3 blocks from the trails. Sometimes we get all the snow as you know. (lucky Me)

Anyways, in the spring, we need to keep in touch and maybe go on a bbodies tour or something. I'll be getting mine finished then too. Maybe we should make some rounds and show off the old girls. Do some shows maybe, as long as it's not serious. Keep it in mind. I was hoping to get down your way this year and look you up, but the body shop called and is ready for my car now. Finally got her driving like an angel. Felt good put some miles on her.
Just curious, you still sold on black? After some serious consideration, I'm sticking with hemi (mango) orange. With the roads up here, I could never keep her clean enough and would need constant wiping and attention. Orange really hides everything, even a shitty paint job as evident by everyone questioning why I was painting her. (muchos bubbles)
Anyways, sounds like you had a great summer and glad even Dave got out of the shed for a while.LOL Hi Dave!!

Love this site, Daryn

Yeah, where you northern guys hibernate in the winter to keep from freezing, here in AZ we hibernater in the summer so the blood won't boil...Don't let them kid you about "but it's a dry heat"...115 is HOT! (Hmmmm, maybe i ought to straighten up some???)

Yeah Daryn...Way too many hobbies.LOL! I guess i'm the kinda guy that always has to have something to do. Just trying to organize them all gets a bit tricky.

Heck yeah i'd enjoy coming up your way this winter. I usually take a trip or two every year up to the snow belts in the Chatham area or Bruce Crossings. Gets tricky sometimes with having a short track, but they groom pretty well in the U.P. No boondocking for me in the snow belts! It would be nice to hook up and hit up the shoreline in your neck of the woods. A spring run with the Birds would be great as well. I agree about the "No Worries" type cruise/show. I'm sure you notice like I do the folks that get so heavy and detailed about showing their cars, it becomes more of a job rather than something that supposed to be recreational. Yeah, not for me....

Good to hear your girl made it to the body shop! The Hemi orange looks outstanding on a 69'. It will be pretty nice to see her up close with a shinny new coat of orange. I'm 100% set and dedicated on Black for mine. After painting all the jams and the inner cowl, I guess there isn't a whole lot of going back. No worries though, i'm 100% sure that's the color i'm gonna be happy with.

Yeah, was a great summer!!! Hope you had a great one as well. I agree, Good to see Dave take a break from the "tin chicken".. These cars are great, but too much can get to be "too much". Best way I can describe it is, like if you eat the same thing every single day, eventually you get sick of it and don't really want to touch it again for a while. Plus fun in the sun with the family should take presedence anyways.

I hear ya Big Jim....It sure is a trade off, kinda one way or the other. First time I went to the sandbox, guys on the plane ride over where talking about "dry heat" and it isn't that bad. We landed at Prince Sultan Air Base and they opened the C-5 up, the 130F heat came pouring in. It was about as startling as someone kicking you in the jaw. Stunned, I was thinking......Was this on the brochure? What is the reasoning for it being this hot on earth? Does god hate this place and this is punishment? So the guys with towels on their heads are "pull starts" and the guys with red dots on their forheads are "push starts" Huh??? Don't shake the natives hands, they use it to wipe their what?? Where's all the Cactus and Camels? Lots of questions when I got there, but one was answered right away............ "dry heat is not bad" is pretty much folklore.

Your sandbox comments made me laugh.

I arrived on a C5 as well, seated facing backwards. we basically flew all the way around the world on an east route from okinawa japan to alaska to NYC to athens and then down to SWA.

I was like, "first, why the hell are we facing backwards? Second, Saudi arabia is right over there!! I think I can see it from here! Why the hell are we flying all the way around the F'ing world??"

lol!!

Dry heat... more like a high heat dehydrator!!

And why is everything on fire??? There was burning oil spraying out of the ground everywhere you looked!

Knock it off you hadji hosers! That chit aint cheap in the states!!

(I'm actually just bumping this thread back to the top in hopes that you can add something new. )

Hope all going smooth with the 69 Will! looking forward as usual to seeing or hearing more of it..

LOL...Dave. Gotta love the ol' C-5 Galaxy eh? You're right, nothing like being hunched over you knee caps for an hour till the heavy pig finally makes it to cruising altitude.
At least the seats are comfy I guess.. You got a kick out of all the burning well vents as well huh? Gee, so much gas/oil they just burn it, what a horrible problem to have. Still don't make up for the fact that is a god foresaken, cursed, wretched, sweltering burn pit with a geological landscape that is just as explosivly vibrent as the surface of the moon. I honestly believe that god himself has wrote that place off as a loss....

Things are going a bit slower than intended Ron, but looks like i'll have a good run on the RR come the 12 days off I have around Christmas (if I can manage to keep my butt of my sleds during that time). Still not ready for fresh paint, but she's getting there.
Installed the Dash Works repro Tach in the cluster and got the LED conversion done on the dash. Gotta say, the indigo blue looks a heck of a lot better than that old dim barn light look she's had since 69'.

Still have to find me some orange paint to paint the needles in the cluster yet. I'm thinking the hobby shop might have something along the same lines?

Either way, ol' skeletor is still rolling Ron and you'll see/read some fresh updates not too far down the road. Thanks for the kind words.

Take care-prop

I was talking about actual well fires, not vents. 700 some oil wells set a blaze by them irqi bastids after we chased them out of kuwait.

looked like the desert was leaking fire.

I'm going to look into this dashworks stuff, I want my factory tach working, or at least I want a factory apearance tack working.

Good luck with your christmas plans.
