Fan nicking shroud

69 Roadrunner 383 stock everything and when I get on it I can hear a pinging noise like the fan is hitting the shroud. 383 18 inch fan 26in radiator and shroud to match.
Solid motor mount on torque side, stock motor mount on bearing side. When I look at the clearance it seems awfully close on right hand side (ps) as compared to left hand side (ds). Do you think it might have something to do with that solid motor mount? TIA

Sounds like the passenger side is worn allowing the engine to favor the right side. Putting a solid mount on left side transferred energy to the right

You could either replace the passenger side motor mount with another factory style motor mount, and have the same issue again in the future.

Option two is to replace passenger side with a solid mount. Downside is something else may break farther down the line. At least with option one, you already know the weak link.

You said "stock everything". Are you sure your fan isn't too big. I believe the stock fan in 69 was 16.5", not 18"

I run the 18" non clutch fan on my 68 Charger with a 440 and a 26" radiator and plastic factory shroud without any clearance issues. Check your mounts to make sure it isn't leaning one way or rocking when you stomp the throttle. I have stock style mounts with the Mancini Racing solid strut mounted to the K member for extra support.

'69 Road Runner (383) came with a 22' radiator (not a 26") and no shroud, but it did come with an 18" fan.

First verify where the fan is hitting. There should be "witness" marks left on the inner shroud. Verify that the fan blades are equidistant from the shroud all the way around using one blade only and spinning the fan with the belt off. If not, the position of the marks will tell you which way the shroud has to move. If the shroud is attached to the rad, the rad can be slightly moved to center the fan in the shroud. You could also move the shroud slightly as well. You may have to slightly elongate some mounting holes. From the front, 383's always rotate counter clockwise meaning the drives side of the engine would have to lift, not likely. Set an angle finder on top the rad support and note the number of degrees, then, set the angle finder on your air horn and see if the engine is sitting at the same angle. Determine which side of the engine needs to be lifted and place shims between the top of the mount and the bracket to get equal angles. Do the same off the top of the rad. Bubble levels only work if the car is dead level. Make sure to check the passenger side mount for signs of separation but it "squishes" on acceleration not the opposite so it may have compressed a fair amount. Check the fan itself for loose rivets if that's the way the individual blades are secured - you can try wiggling them sideways one at a time. Replace if faulty. If the shroud itself is oblong or dented slightly in one spot or more you'll have to deal with that as well. And lastly, as a precaution, check to make sure that ping sound you hear is contact between the fan and shroud and not the radiator itself.

Put in drive push down hard on the brake and give it gas wile hold the brake on have someone look if its hiting the shroud they will tell you.I had that problim after the resto was done,at first i thought wtf is that,cindy watch as i did what you need to do.

Fender tag says 26 inch radiator I'm sure it came with the shroud.

Maybe chalk the shroud and see where/if the blades are hitting?
Maybe try repositioning the radiator a bit?
