Wondering if anybody else has a car that fits together like this?

My pass. Fender does not touch the inner fender/core support (1/4” gap) and the driver side is fine. Everything else is lined up, gaps are great, I’ve checked for bent frame rails ect… and everything seems in order yet this fender attachment point is off by 1/4”

appreciate the help.

Shim it!. I had to put shims in that gap as well. Maybe split the gap and shim 1/8” on each side. Fit the chin panel and see if it helps. New panels aren’t perfect. The gap between the inner and out fenders isn’t closed that I’ve seen. You run across all sorts of weird stuff redoing these old bodies.

By some chance are any of the parts aftermarket?

the lower valance will center everything, then shim it where necessary....... I have modified the fender a little in extreme cases

Lower valence is on , everything fits up nice except the inner fender, I always thought the fender was supposed to fit up tight to that area.

in a perfect world, yes.......... I'd say a third of the cars I've encountered need some sort of shim(s) somewhere in that area; I suppose some people just squeeze them together some how?

think about it though.......it's better too narrow than too fat, probably by design

I think the inconsistencies are within the tens (hundreds?) of thousands of fenders, not so much the cars............. my opinion of course :D

Don’t know how well the pictures will show the gap in my last one. The chin panel fitted up poorly to the AMD fenders
