I was getting so sick of telling you guys that I was going to fire my motor just to spend the weekend tying up more loose ends. Friday I said I was going to fire it and Murphy's Law stepped in again "I lost my damn keys". I woke up Sat and thought and thought and finally remembered laying them in the dash while I was wiring it, sure enough that's where they were. So tonight with little left stopping me I filled the tank with 93, filled the float bowl and crossed my fingers, it came to life first turn. You couldn't wipe this **** eating grin off my face with a rasp, unfortunetly do to lack of funds I still need an alternator and power steering pump which means no belt on the water pump. I never got all of the air worked out of the fuel lines to actually let it idle, more importantly I did get to hear what sounds like a very healthy motor. :headbang: There is always a down side to everything, for me it's that now I'm going to be hell bent on getting all of the needed parts to finish it "with no money".

Congrats - must be nice to know there is light at the end of the tunnel.

That's great you got it fired up. Is it a new motor or just an old one coming back to life?

It's all new minus the block and heads which are filled with nothing but new parts. I built it myself minus the typical machine shop stuff, probably my favorite part of building a car "the engine".

Congrats - must be nice to know there is light at the end of the tunnel.

I don't know if I'd call it a light just yet but it's definetly extra motivation. If I could pull the money out of my @^* to buy my paint, rims and tires "that would be a light".

AWESOME!!! What car did you put the motor in?

I'm also building a 451 to replace the 360 that the previous owner replaced the 318 with in my '68 Satellite. Can't wait to get that big block done. Do you mind me asking you what cam you are running (with specs)? I'm going for a mild cam for street use, but still want it to be snappy.

By the way, you can get a good alternator and power steering setup with brackets from Bouchillon Performance. I've already ordered mine. Hopefully you'll get a tax refund and there you go.

It's in a 69 Charger, My motor is a little on the mild side as well. I didn't want the low gears or the high stall converter so I went with Comp Cams 21-224-4. As far as the income tax goes "not likely" we are getting a nice chunk back but I'm sure I'll be last on the list "you know" when it's all gone.

haha, I know how it goes. Thanks for the cam info. Let us know how it drives once you take it out on the road. I'm running 3.55 suregrip with 28" tall tires in the back (275/60/15) in my car.

awesome! It's fun when a new baby is born, even if it is a 900 lb fire breathing iron baby!
