History I've accumulated on my current GTX has been like winning the lottery. The original owner's son and I get together on a regular basis. He's managed to fill in many of the quirks in the car's history I'd wondered about, and also gave me all the original documents retained by the dealership, paperwork most customers never get to see. The car stayed on the floor plan for three years before the bank made the dealership title it. It was titled with the company as owner of record, and the car continued to run on dealer tags for the next 12 years. I'd wondered why the documents showed date of original title in 1972.
As I said in earlier posts, no substitute for face to face meetings for learning details of a car's early years. My ownership history has always passed on with my prior GTXs, and I've found it interesting that with seven cars, only one subsequent owner made the effort to contact me. Google brings up my professional data, it would be an easy search. The VIN for my first GTX has been on the internet for decades, and no one has attempted to contact me, a shame, since I still have original documents showing the history of all prior owners.
