first fire in 23 years.

One of the things I have to keep in mind.....33's on all the way around on my 2500 and the spare that size won't fit under the truck. If I have a flat on the rear, will have to move one of the tires from the front to the rear and put the spare on the front. RPITA! and not too sure if I can even to that kind of stuff anymore.

We were on the side of I-81 changing that tire, dangerous situation to be in. Also tired from a 6/7 hour drive and just wanted to get home. I didn't drive over 50 mph on that spare but that didn't help. I really didn't think about it until I started hearing a noise

no .. 83 spirit GT. was top of the line then.
Spirit was just what they renamed the Gremlin in 1979. The Spirit Sedan still looked like a Gremlin:

while the Spirit Liftback had a more sloped appearance.

I'm surprised the engine didn't get hydro-locked. Did it ever start running on its own?
o ya .. it wasa running off of the carb cleaner. guess i should go into more detail. rabbits chewed on plug wires so there was alot of spark jumping around. a ton of vacuum leaks. truth be told. i didn't think it was going to start. i just wanted to turn it over to move oil around. but i chucked a battery in it. the lights came on and wipers were on so thay started grinding on the glass. So i shot some carb cleaner in it and it fired up. runs like poop but it ran....

And a Concord wasn’t a Hornet. :D
everything but the grill front fenders and tail lights will fit a hornet and vis versa. (fenders will swap just look differnt) doors quarters roof trunk lid glass. A spirit is a concord with a hatch. i have sevral up here ...lol

The Spirit was a body all to itself. The 304 v8 was also an option.View attachment 1564237

ya ... but had most of the body parts from the concord/hornet the concord coup was a hornet with the spirit front clip bumpers and dash. all the body panels will swap out. but ya have to use the upper window frame from the hornet if ya use the door from a spirit on the hornet or concord or the other way around. we been cutting up spirits and concord's for patch panels for hornets. quarters rockers and anything else we need.. but this is the last AMX. this is a 79 V8/4speed. last year for that combo in a small AMC. this one is loaded with the wide body kit 40 channel CB sun roof and hood decal and super rare 14x8 wheels

What were the later AMX's called as the original 68-70 cars were 2 seaters, right?

The '71-74 AMX had rear seats and was the top trim option on the Javelin.
yes ... the last REAL AMX was in 1970 .... all the rest were a trim package
if it has a back seat ... it ain't a real AMX..... end of story.
and i have 2 74's .... lol

The venerable 258, from a long line of AMC inline sixes - culminating in perhaps the best of all,
the 4.0!

The 282 c.i.d. 200 hp. version that AMC's Mexican subsidiary sold was no slouch eithe
low end grunt was huge in that one. not a big RPM mill. but will yank the vault out of the bank at idle.

I put a 600 holley on one in a CJ a long time ago.
