One of the few vehicles I bought new was a 1980 AMC Spirit. Using the 358 six was a no brainer and they made it with full size A arms, 14" wheels, leaf springs on the rear, limited slip, and four speed trans. Great car until the wife got caught in a hail storm. Looked like someone worked it over with a ball peen hammer. Then coming back from a trip down south we had a flat tire on the rear. I put the donut spare on and forgot it had a limited slip rear. Well by time we got home it was making some noise. Traded it in at a dealer the following week.

Had a 98 Jeep for about a year with the 4.0....got it with over 200k on it and it still ran great but man, with a soft top, it was a rpita on the highway as far as noise goes.
