so.......i went to pa saturday, and picked up this matador for parts for my jav.
as soon as i got there,it started pouring,we made the deal,
i loaded it up safety chained it and left, started back on my way,
its about 8pm and very dark and very cold.
i had to get gas first so i went downtown and then followed the gps back out,
its a torrential downpour im literally slow rolling..some of the road is icy as well..
i manage to find a car wash and change the shitty back tires to my rollers for the ride back
then i head out again, next turn in like ten miles,so im going really slow with the flashers on.
go the distance and the Gps tells me im a mile out, then .2 whatever,
and its time for the turn so i make the right and go up the hill start slipping and sliding about 500 feet in
and as i do this im looking at the surface of the road and thinking Wait wth is this?
a Seasonal road??...yes..
yes it is,and with this car on the dolly and an icy hill and gravel i cant back down the hill...

so i creep over the crest of the hill, and as soon as i do the truck goes sideways,
the car and dolly push me down the sloped road, and into 2 trees BLAM
car and tow dolly keep going and vanish off the embankment,
and then try to pull the truck with it....yeah,talk about loading your drawers...
i managed to stop the truck Right on the edge of the cliff Sideways on my side.

get out, find out truck frame has snapped
bed is toasted.
axle is bent!
tow dolly no longer has a tongue And a flat tire.
matador is smashed to pieces down the embankment and wedged against a stump and several Small trees keeping it from going the rest of the way to the bottom.
still safety chained to the dolly tho and the truck.
the pic shown doesnt do the angle of this enbankment true justice, its Steep.

i manage to back the truck up and get the safety chains off,and then attempt to call 911.
ha..so..my fone,doesnt have service..nice..
to anywheres because im on the lost forest road of robin hood....
theres probably dinosaurs living out here because no one else does....

so,i wobble the chevy down the slope of doom for a mile which ws more fun!
and come out on a real road, follow it a few miles into town and find This out.
the road before the seasonal road, which i saw a ways back was the Real road i Ended up on.
it should have put me onto it from the start,
but it never even indicated that road and i was watching the roads and the gps like a hawk...
the countdown to the turn was consistent, all the way.
Gps...of Doom.

i know what you guys will say :xscuseless:
so heres the pics, and yes, snuffers,my dog,and myself are okay..bit sore and shaken.

Holy crap! Glad you're OK. I hope the parts car was cheap.

Well that really bites the big one! Glad your OK.

Yes, What is important is that you're O.K! You'll live to fight another day. RE-group
and get your stuff fixed. You've heard all of the GPS stories. They're only funny if
it's not you. Be careful out in the stix!

Dang man. In weather like that, not sure what I would have done but I really don't like the GPS stuff. It's done nothing but made my drives harder. A friend of mine has that WAZE app on her phone that seems pretty good but it still messes up too much for my liking. Glad you're ok and sorry about the crazy ride.

HOLY SH**!!! Glad you and snuffers are still alive!!

The real question is, will you still be able to use the Matador? :poke:

as long as Snuffers is OK :poke:

car dolly's suck ***,
for all the reasons you described

good to hear you're OK & got out of their

sorry that bites but glad your good.

Hope your okay... That would just suck being in that situation..

Ty for that marpar and you other guys as well,
i called one of my friends for a rescue mission, and ended up with 3 arriving the next day.
got a room, slept and got back up at 10am and went till 8pm sunday night, when we all arrived back home.
yes,i drove that wreck 200 miles back home..and it was an endurance test.
im still thanking God for that save.:praying: as well as my friends for the rescue.

about the matador,
if the tailshaft section can be swapped out,i can save the trans and that was a vital piece.
i bought the car because of the rebuilt motor and trans.
the rest of the car,i knew going into it i was buying it for parts...
i just didnt know i was going to be carrying it home in pieces.:steering:

Edit: and yes Demonic, initial buyin was 1500,i got the car for 500.
the body looked much better in the pics than it was and the owner just wanted it gone out of his yard.
so i got a great deal but lost a great deal as well.

Thank God that tow dolly hitch was made my GM as well Rus! As if it hadn't broke..well...

Glad you're okay!!
