For all of You Train Lovers

I'd like to know the last time these ran under their own power...

bottom pics appear to be Bayer-Garret type locos which are popular on the African continent.

Top photo has a European look to the design.

Has been under water for quite a while as the rails have eroded away from the once tight gap at the joint bars.

Next summer when I go to Carlisle I’ll take the granddaughters there. They’ll love it!

I doubt you'd be able to ride it, I think it's part of the company's personal executive rail coaches. Yes, the glass was custom installed. There was another car with a similar window that was used for observing track geometry under various conditions.

That's an inspection/track geometry car.

Note the "stadium" seating and windows.

Looks like 2 I class (2-10-0) and one M class (4-8-2) plus a B class switcher (0-6-0)with a slope back tender.

I LOVE steam era engine service facilities.

Here are a couple of beauties I saw back in 1989.

This was the local ski train in Laramie Wyoming, and it ran excursions in the summer time up into the Snowy Range Mountains.

Now this one, some of you may have seen, it used to run between Wyoming and Chicago for a short time, and it made regular trips between Denver and Cheyenne Wyoming. This was the last time it ran on coal before it was converted to an oil burner. Reason for conversion is that they used to have a fire crew chase it because it started so many fires going through the mountains and across the plains. This is 3985 "The Challenger" and it has been retired for many years, but is supposed to be coming back into service in 2021/2022, it will be restored after they finish 4014, a Big Boy locomotive currently under restoration at the round house in Cheyenne Wyoming.

by they way, when this thing got going under full power, I wasn't able to get off the bridge soon enough and got blasted with hot coal embers! LOL So don't stand on bridges when coal fired locomotives go underneath! It however was quite the experience.
