I took this little dude in as a foster dog,
they called him Hersey I didn't like that name
I named him after "Bubba" Watson while watching the US Open {golf}
he's I think {?} a Pointer of some sort & Chocolate lab mix maybe 1-1/2 to 2 years old
he was found by the pound & nobody claimed him, probably dumped somewhere,
he was already neutered :icon_fU: {poor guy} & has been chipped by the Animal control

I saw him on their local Tuolumne Co. FOAC website, looking for a Lab to adopt

Poor little dude;
His 1st 10 days after being found, he was in the pound for 4 days,
he was going to be put down, no room {sad really}
he was rescued/saved by FOAC
next 2 day in foster care, some lady who works for FOAC, he jumped their 3.5' fence
he was found by same person on her front porch after she got home from work
next 2 days he stayed locked in a kennel/"crate trained" @ Paws Inn up here
next 2 days he then went to yet another foster home, he was too active for them &
they didn't want to deal with the long term medical issues {more on that below}
back to the kennel {6'x3' jail so to speak} @ Paws Inn

I felt so sorry for the little dude, he is part of the FOAC adoption program
{Friends of the Animals Care, Tuolumne Co., it's a private SPCA type deal}
unfortunately he has heartworms bad, they are covering all the costly vet treatments,
he has to be subdued for awhile, on antibiotics & other meds,
to try to kill off the larvae 1st
he will be on severely restricted activity
when he goes in for the second after 60 days treatment/chemo shots
he's an extremely active & very smart little guy, very birdy, friendly as all heck,
fastest tongue in the west, he gets along with the neighbors, cats kids & other dogs,
as long as they are walking by in the street...LOL extremely protective now,
he didn't even so much as even bark, the 1st few days here...
BUT
he hates the sound of diesels, goes off when ol'Pops drives the Dually Ford &
he especially dislikes the UPS truck...LOL
He walks really well on a leash...
He gets really excited when the deer, quail, doves & turkeys all roam thru...
He was hunted I think, points pretty well too {?}
He was skinny as all hell, had the squirts, shedding like crazy, smelled god awful,
I gave him a good bath, I'm feeding him well & he's put a few pounds on the little guy,
he's maybe 50#'s now, probably will never be over 60#'s...

Not sure if I will keep him or not, I'm growing more attached to the little BUBBA
I just couldn't let him stay in a kennel for now...

Anyway just thought I'd share,
I've had him now for about 2 weeks,
{Doh' not sure about the time date stamp on my camera...LOL}
I wanted to share with "my FBBO family"
he's being trained my way & he needs it badly too...

Enjoy Bubba, name is fitting I think...

I think its time you just got one of your own. Keep it!

good for you bud ! you both need each other !

kudos to you Budnicks! hope he lives a long happy life with you. might regret it if you don't keep him

Thanks guys,
I can't adopt him until after his heartworm treatments are finished

He's a pretty good dog, needs training & I'm a sucker for the rescue foster aspects too
{not my 1st time}
I really still want a puppy & preferably a lab, I've had labs for 50 years now,
I'd take a golden retriever or chessy equally too...

I may or probably will end up with 2 dogs again...LOL
I keep saying we'll see, there's a few people that want him,
a couple of my dads RV friends too...
I will say for sure he'll have a "good home", not be in some shelter, I can guarantee that fact...
if I choose not to adopt him, after the treatments are done...

He definitely has some Lab. Great disposition, loyal, smart, easy to train. You can see the pointer in the way his head is shaped and his tail just a bit.
Labs don't point. Pointers don't have webbed feet. I bet he has both!

I'll put money on it that he adopts you! Lol

Bud! you are done:edgy:!.....he hooked you.
great looking dog.
:elmer:looks like a hunter to me.

I tell this guy he is going to the rescue people almost every day..
..BUT, I don't mean it:icon_sunny:

Glad you guys found each other, he's a good looking dog for sure.

Cool dog Bud, looks like a good mix to me!

Bubba looks like a very good friend/companion and I wish more people would take in shelter dogs and donate to the cause.

yep !!
he's all of those things

He is my shadow for sure, follows me everywhere, rides well in the truck too
my ol'Pops is warming up to him too, he didn't really at 1st...

I just heard from a local breeder,
that my vet knows too,
that has a 1 puppy left,
a 5 week old male Chocolate lab

Oh no, my prediction may come true much sooner than I was expecting...
I'm in over my head maybe...LOL

Thanks to everyone that have replied...
I'd like to reply to every post, it's not that I don't want too either...

We sure have some great people/members here...

My plate is full & my cup will be "Runneth Over" soon it seems,
I went without a dog since Oct. 3rd 2014 {Lord Budnicks RIP}
I really did miss having a dog/mans best friend too...

Yeah, I needed something... a dog helps fill that void...

Love that photo Pops

I think its time you just got one of your own. Keep it!

Looks like a beauty. Keep him!

Very cool you got a new buddy - maybe two! They will never replace Budnicks, but then again, they don't have to and shouldn't. They will each be different, and you'll love them all the same!

Bubba looks like a great dog for you Bud, you better let him adopt you!

:hello2:

Good for you Bud, If it is meant to be, there will be another bowl or two in the kitchen!!

I know you lost Mr. Budnicks a year or so ago. That loss was hard, but to save a rescue is the best! Larry

That's awesome Budnicks! I think you 2 will do wonders for each other! Remember he also choose you as his foster human ;)

He's a good looking fella and Welcome Bubba!!!

Good for you. I like anybody who tries to help the innocents. Too many critters suffer from "stupid-people syndrome".
