I took this little dude in as a foster dog,
they called him Hersey I didn't like that name
I named him after "Bubba" Watson while watching the US Open {golf}
he's I think {?} a Pointer of some sort & Chocolate lab mix maybe 1-1/2 to 2 years old
he was found by the pound & nobody claimed him, probably dumped somewhere,
he was already neutered {poor guy} & has been chipped by the Animal control
I saw him on their local Tuolumne Co. FOAC website, looking for a Lab to adopt
Poor little dude;
His 1st 10 days after being found, he was in the pound for 4 days,
he was going to be put down, no room {sad really}
he was rescued/saved by FOAC
next 2 day in foster care, some lady who works for FOAC, he jumped their 3.5' fence
he was found by same person on her front porch after she got home from work
next 2 days he stayed locked in a kennel/"crate trained" @ Paws Inn up here
next 2 days he then went to yet another foster home, he was too active for them &
they didn't want to deal with the long term medical issues {more on that below}
back to the kennel {6'x3' jail so to speak} @ Paws Inn
I felt so sorry for the little dude, he is part of the FOAC adoption program
{Friends of the Animals Care, Tuolumne Co., it's a private SPCA type deal}
unfortunately he has heartworms bad, they are covering all the costly vet treatments,
he has to be subdued for awhile, on antibiotics & other meds,
to try to kill off the larvae 1st
he will be on severely restricted activity
when he goes in for the second after 60 days treatment/chemo shots
he's an extremely active & very smart little guy, very birdy, friendly as all heck,
fastest tongue in the west, he gets along with the neighbors, cats kids & other dogs,
as long as they are walking by in the street...LOL extremely protective now,
he didn't even so much as even bark, the 1st few days here...
BUT
he hates the sound of diesels, goes off when ol'Pops drives the Dually Ford &
he especially dislikes the UPS truck...LOL
He walks really well on a leash...
He gets really excited when the deer, quail, doves & turkeys all roam thru...
He was hunted I think, points pretty well too {?}
He was skinny as all hell, had the squirts, shedding like crazy, smelled god awful,
I gave him a good bath, I'm feeding him well & he's put a few pounds on the little guy,
he's maybe 50#'s now, probably will never be over 60#'s...
Not sure if I will keep him or not, I'm growing more attached to the little BUBBA
I just couldn't let him stay in a kennel for now...
Anyway just thought I'd share,
I've had him now for about 2 weeks,
{Doh' not sure about the time date stamp on my camera...LOL}
I wanted to share with "my FBBO family"
he's being trained my way & he needs it badly too...
Enjoy Bubba, name is fitting I think...
