I went to Atco and watched a few guys try and make their license runs,
It was a sore site. Guys blowing off their tires and couldnt hit the number.Cars not fast enough even though they think in their head they go fast enough.:thatswck:
So please if your going to go for your license make sure you can get the car to run the number. 9.99 or faster in the 1/4. 6.38 in the 1/8th.
save your money and dont waste it with safety gear,NHRA fees and chassis certification and medical exams.

i agree ssr it has cost me over 400 bucks for the license membership fees and medical exam. not to mention 1100 in safety clothing and helmet, i ran high 8s for a long time i hate to see anybody waste that much money if they cant run the numbers

Not sure what this rant is about.

I understand wanabe's.

When I step out of one of my faster rides ride and step into my 11.80 charger I don't always take off my Hans device, gloves, pants, shoe's or jacket.
I think more safety equipment should be worn.

I pulled the guy out of this car after it barrel roll'd down the retaining wall at the strip.

This driver runs in the 10's,but had gear to run 8.50 or slower.
He didn't recieve any burns after his car caught fire because of his safety equipment that exceeded NHRA MINIMUM.

Yep don't waste money on extra safety equipment over the minimum safety equipment.
John Force,Don Schumacher comes to mind when the minimum comes to mind.
Antron Brown comes to mind.

this needs to bumped for a few guys who went out this past weekend and couldn't run the number. it's so sad to see.All that money and no cigar.its got to be painful.:icon_anal:

If you think this license is hard to get,try getting the Advanced ET license.
Hitting you numbers is always difficult at anything under 10.00.
Good luck.

It's not that hard to get, I got mine in 1977 at age 17 y/o well 2 days before my 18th B-Day, the money to make the car be able to go fast enough & all the specific safety SFI rated equipment, the 3-20 fire suit, arm restraints, fire boots, helmet, ballistic blankets etc., is the tough part {the cost/expense}, then passing a FAA type physical... I was extremely fortunate, I got mine when I was running an 23 T Altered, it could run 7.50's or 6.90's if needed, I ran originally in the then new fledgling "Super Eliminator 7.90 class" back then, but I originally was just going to license/run "Super Comp 8.90 class", just needed more fuel & boost/pulley or ignition changes....

an in car blind safety test, see if you can get out quick & where all the controls & safety stuff is... a burn out/launch &/or near Half track pass, the when the track officials say your ready, then a near full pass, then if you do well on the 1st 2, then a Full "all out" pass, I got mine in 3 total passes, then you have to have, 3 people/witnesses with licenses of equal or quicker classes, sign you license request forms, mail them into NHRA, with your FAA physical/exam, or whom ever your sanctioning body is, I did the same thing for IHRA, SCTA, NDRA too...

I personally would rather see, higher level/too much safety equipment, instead of the bare minimum stuff.... my $0.02 cents

Every upgrade in your license just cost more money in equipment.

Fuel switch, fire bottles and the laundry.
Good things to know where they are with you eyes closed.
