That's right, I joined the dark side today "I bought a Chebby". We've been in the marked for a Eco car lately ($600-$700 a month in gas) we looked at the Darts first but didn't want the payments and them being so new there wasn't much to choose from in the used marked. So then we drove the Cruze, "WOW" what a nice car for an Eco car, drives like a mid sized car and looks pretty sharp as well. Unfortunetly they aren't much cheaper used so we just bought a totaled 2013 with 3,000 miles for $5,000. The funny part is when my wife went to look at it my daughter (6) got out and informed my wife that it was a Chevy and Chevies were slow, then she informed her that daddy wouldn't let her buy it. They walked around the car (the whole time my daughter is pointing out what she likes and doesn't like) then they open the door where there is an American flag saying made in America and my daughter points to it and says with a smile "look it's made in the USA". Yeap, I'm raising her right "American made" actually it was made in Ohio to boot.

Your daughter, and your story about the same made up for it .. I'm cool with it. (PS I have an 08 Impala)

No sweat,
I leased a Equinox over a Journey Because the Equinox made here and Journey Made in Mexico
Equinox on U.S. Made Michelin and Journey on Korean made Kumho
Equinox does have alot of issues though been to the dealer at least 10 times in less than 10,000 miles

Is this acceptable??

Our grand daughter bought a Chevy Spark. I know it's way different than the Cruze but man, talk about blind spots from the A pillars to the rear head rests. I'll be surprised it isn't wrecked before 10k miles. Even she squawks about it. Other than that, it seems to be ok but GM products have never impressed me that much....but the 56 2dr sedan I had in 1970 with a 265, Jardine headers, Eddy intake, 600 Holley and 3 speed with reversed linkage shifter ran great until it blew up! :D

your doing a great job with your daughter.... good luck with the Cruze

All of you just say 3 Hail Mary's and your forgiven.

As far as I'm concerned, forget about any mention of dark side, I'd shake your hand ! Although Mopar is #1 to me, I've owned many vehicles by GM, Ford & Chrysler over 40 years. Still do now, and they've been all (except the Olds diesel) excellent cars/trucks. The constant in my book is "American", which includes Canada. My family, friends, and business associates all know hell would freeze before I would own a foreign vehicle (with the exception of a Jensen Interceptor or a Pantera, LOL ! )

Uhh, no. I will have a tow-truck there tomorrow to remove said burgundy & white-color vehicle immediately.

How totaled is it??
Honestly, I can't believe they totaled it. The driver side front upper fender support will need porta powered back up about 1.5-2" and a drivers fender, hood, headlights, bumper and some odds and ends. I estimate it will take around $1,000-$1,500 and about a weeks worth of work to put back on the road. The thing still runs and drives, the only thing keeping it from being drivable is the fender support doesn't allow enough clearance for steering. I'll post some pics soon.

With the air bag deployed, that's $750, you also have to replace the control module $416, and the sensors $332, and the seat belt $169. That's over $1600. Even at cost, are you getting the body parts free ? And that upper rail is high-strength steel.

I hate Chevys. Hate GM. But good luck with the car, hope it treats well. :)

Maybe if your buying all brand new stuff, the airbags will likely come from the salvage yard and I have a place that reprograms the module and takes care of the belt for about $50.00 each. So, no I'm not getting the parts for free just not blowing it all on overpriced parts. Supposedly this thing doesn't have sensors (all in the module) but I know nothing about that so we'll just have to see.
