Well it's fuel pump time. Just wondering if a stock pump (5-7psi) would be ok, or do i need to go bigger. The engine: 383 about 9.5 to 1, about 390hp and just over 400 tq. 680 cfm quick fuel carb. Not sure of the cam specs. Thanks guys.

5 to 7 psi is fine. More pressure would push needle off seat and flood engine. You might want one with more volume if you plan to modify engine in future.

Can you elaborate on volume? What's stock volume, and what kind of volume would you be considering. I may thinking about putting on better heads in the future. Thanks.

Never thought about vapor lock. How can I avoid it? Would going with an elec. mounted in the rear near the tank help? Or does that not matter? Thanks.

If you have a stock exhaust I wouldn't worry. Vapor lock is a sign of a weak fuel pump in stock cars. If you have headers, Don't run fuel close. If it is close just shield it from direct heat. I run an electric pump but if it stops working it's gone, noisy.
If you go to the Mancini website You'll see fuel it shows you many fuel pumps and spec's. Find the pump you have and check the spec's. They have 3 little bars in a red box upper left corner click on that. click on "shop by department" click on that. Then go to fuel then pumps. The summit racing is heat shield tube.
