just wondering on my 68 charger does there have to be a fuel return line?

there wasnt one on the car when i bought it and now i have put a stroker 505 in it i upgraded the fuel line to 1/2" line.

i cant see anywhere where the return line would come from and go to?

it has mechanical fuel pump and 1/2" fuel pickup sending unit also

It should (could) go back to a vapor cannister OR the tank.
CHECK OUT: Fine Lines.
They will have pertinent data for your application. specifically, the Charger may be different than my 70 Superbee which has a vapor canister.
Again, look at the Company: "Fine Lines" for your app.

thanks man, but there was no canister when i bought car either, just one line running from fuel sender on tank to a filter then to the mechanical pump and then there was a breather line from the other port on the fuel pickup unit which ran up to the fuel filler.

on my fuel pickup/sender there is only 2 hose nipples coming out of it, 1 for fuel outlet and 1 for breather.

is this different from yours super bee ski.
i will check fine lines out thanks

Ditch the mechanical pump. Get a Holley Blue Pump and regulator. Run the 1/2 line to the regulator under the hood. Come out of the regulator and tee to the carburetor. Come off the other side of the regulator and run the return line from there back to the tank. In this way, the regulator is used as the orifice for the ruturn, as well as regulating pressure.

i was told by a few guys here where i live not to use an electric pump, (not sure how true it is) but because of the heat here, i live in a mining town and an average day in summer is about 47 degrees celsius, not sure what the conversion to fahrenheit is.

they said something about boiling the fuel or the heat from the road is no good for the electric pump or something.

I cannot imagine a mechanical pump of any kind keeping up with a 505.
