Galen’s Tag Service still operating?

Another case of someone who's service grew too big for them to handle. Instead of shutting down acceptance of payment or restructuring to handle the load, he just keeps running the business.

Doesn't do his image in the community too well, and that's a shame. I've been through one of his huge, original 4" white binders from the '80s or early '90s (dubbed the "Galen Govier Book of Knowledge" or something corny like that - as I recall, the binder is a lot more comprehensive than the small books), and it is pretty much genesis for all the tag decoders now online - and then some.

Shame that the same effort he put into the research never seemed to mate with the same effort for a working business model.

My car was "decoded" by this guy,the paperwork came with the car. Don't get me wrong its nice to have those few pages but really i don't see whats the big deal. Its as if his name attaches some sort of significant prominence. The fact that he takes peoples money and does not provide the service is a whole other story and not a flattering one at that.

Can someone with a 1968 that has been decoded by GG post up the info? I would like to see what is so speacial. I have seen the letter, I want to see the broadcast sheet decoding and how much if any he decodes.

Don't send him any $$$, he's not "allegedly" reliable any longer...

Do your due diligence;
There's multiple threads on multiple Mopar sites, where he's
"allegedly" not followed thru, no refunds, no papers, no responses etc...

People don't be/get conned/duped/fooled/taken for your hard earned $$$,
he's not what he "allegedly" once was !!

99% of the stuff can be found on the -www- anyway,
for free !!

Some stuff like the build codes are hard to find info on. For example Engine 736, Trans 099, Steering Column 40x, steer/horn 15T, stub frame 16...I cannot find that detail.

Update- It is now May 31, 2016, and I have now been waiting 495 days for my "order".
Nothing but the runaround and outright lies. $223 shot to hell.

Update- 8-3-2016- Discovered secret to getting your order- FILE A COMPLAINT WITH THE WISCONSIN BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU!! Same day response and mailing of my order I placed 20 months ago!

20 months ago when I placed my order with Galen's Tag Service, I thought it would be of value. That was based on his reputation as THE Mopar guru, and that his registration and documentation of my GTX would enhance my ownership. After getting the runaround and outright lies for over a year I realized that buying something from a man based on his reputation, when his reputation was now mud in my mind, was stupid. I must confess that in my 20 month ordeal, I never ONCE talked or communicated with Galen Govier. My only contact was with his office woman.
After I reached my breaking point, I filed a second written complaint online with the Wisconsin BBB, this time demanding a refund. Later that same day, the woman at GTS called and my order was at the post office going out priority mail. Now I am getting a report that whenever I look at it will bring back all the frustration and bad memories.
