So what's not a small block about a small block chevy 350? I have never considered a chevy 350 anything else but. I can pretty much guarantee I can blow away a chevy 350 with one of my built 318's and absolutely terrorise anyone with a 350 with one of the 340's lol What I would rather have is a car with the same manufacturer motor in it. It's the same with the old's guys and the buick and pontiac guys. No real Pontiac guys want's to see a chevy 350 in his firebird when he knows there was a Pontiac version of it that made more power lol You chevy guys crack me up stick your dick in anything that moves typical.

Hey I love cars period... Raced GM's & Chevy's for years went 6.90's @190mph in a 92 Trans Am I later converted to a 89 Camaro for racing in Super Chevy shows... I love them all Mopar's Chevy Pontiacs Buicks Olds Fords even some of the foreign crap... I'm a complete car guy... It's just not right, even if it was a POS old 64 Dodge D-100 rust bucket... LOL... you will never convince me it was... Chevy Boy...he he ha ha

My Camaro has a Ford 9" and a Viper output shaft.. you take the best of the best when you want to get serious.

I can understand the purist... but again it was a POS truck... They would have spent most of the 15k on mopar drivetrain to the equivalent of what they got. How some of you can not understand that concept here is beyond me... LOL.... but what ever... its a mopar site... brand loyalty exceeds smart choices sometimes. Just they way it goes

It's been done for so long on the real old (30's/40's) Rods, I almost give them guys a break. But if people start putting Chevy or Ford motors into our 60s'/70's Mopars, then it's definitely Pace Picante time...

"Get a rope!" :D

Chevy SBC is a platform, LSx is a platform... there is a huge difference between the two. My LS2, or sbc as you call it makes over 700 hp on 91 octane pump gas.. all motor.

You don't get that out of a sbc 350

And I don't have a problem with people being purists... just trying to esplain whats going down on this one :)

But I was thinking about dropping my LS2 into the 69...... :monkeydance:

yeah that's sad... smart owner for sure... yep, back on subject again....

Do the home work on that statement. That could have been a Hudson. Hudson made Metros also and they looked identicle except a few chrome pieces. I had a Hudson Metro 40 years ago and I honestly thought that the hood ornament on that car was a Hudson. Check it out !
Where I lived I never saw a hudson metropolitian they where all nashes, as a matter of fact we never called them nash or hudsons just metropolitians. Whatever, the reply was that they did not have a clue as to its value.

But I get it, some of you would rather walk than drive anything but a mopar...LOL
Maybe for some but not me. I love all makes of old cars PERIOD! But it has never made since to me that some one would spend 15000 building a 32 ford coupe then cheap out and drop a chevy motor into it. The arguments presented are always the same "Cheap Power". True but to build a nice 302 Ford or 360 Dodge is not that much more money. A guy I know has a saying "any one can make a chevy run, but it takes skill for Ford or Mopar."
The LA engines were used almost as long as the sbc. So there are lots of them out there. Gas Monkey had the v8 from that truck, why not just do a quick rebuild and throw it back in? It would have saved labor and time. IMHO

Thomas

LOL... I already covered it all .. "any one can make a chevy run, but it takes skill for Ford or Mopar." sounds like a jackass to me

I'm done with the talk about the pos 64 dodge to be honest. Better running and more power on the cheap is why the sbc is choice and now the LSx for a huge number of people. If you don't get it then its your issue...LOL.. its been beat to death already

Take it from Sue.. These guys are really becoming *** monkeys. They're trying too hard to be funny on this show. It's like watching a low budget 80's movie. They can't act for ****...but I will say they do come up with some nice rides. Richard is a dumbass and needs to stay away from the auctions,or at least put a reserve price on the cars. Guess that's Hollywood for you?

Ok, so I got caught up on FnL. Sue just cracks me up more every episode: "That's why we call them *** Monkeys..." LOL! What's up with that weirdo Tom? Boy is definitely a few cards short of a full deck, haha.

Loved the way the F-40 came out, especially in black! And those HRE wheels were perfect, imo. Bigger turbos and fuel system for 150-200 more horsepower and that car would really be the tits. $150k profit just for ordering parts and overseeing the build by another shop. That's a pretty sweet payoff!

I just generally like all these guys compared to the other reality/build shows. Even if it's cheesy, partially scripted, dumb jokes, horrible "acting", etc. Still entertaining, not for technical or educational purposes. And yes obviously they're trying to show interesting unique builds, not just high-dollar muscle. I like seeing all different types. Wish they'd bring back that Alloy Ash chick, heh. I'd rather see FnL than the jackass owner on Graveyard Carz, even if he does nicer cars.

Saw the first ep. of FantomWorks. Both that '66 Fastback Stang and Studebaker "Bullet Truck" turned out sick! The crew all seem legit, owner's cool. Great silver colors & wheels and the Pony. The owner of the Stang was a total toolbag, glad the car didn't end up with him, what a doucher. I'm curious what they sold it on eBay for finally? The truck looked cool, but I dunno about $125k cool though. Recap: ~1,500 hours labor by FW, parts/supplies cost not mentioned, but I'd love to know.
