I didn't have a set of OEM keys for my roadrunner, and ordered a couple sets off ebay. I took them to a Lowes home center to get them cut, and got a lengthy lecture from some dweeb about how it's against corporate policy for them to make keys unless you buy them from them. I told them I would be glad to buy four of their keys, as long as they cut mine. Nope, can't do it! I asked the manager and got the same BS.

I drove down to the local Ace hardware, and found the oldest guy there and asked if he could make my keys, all he said was "you got the originals you need to copy?" I gave him the keys and he got to work. Turns out he has an old Fury and knew those keys well. :) A few minutes and $4.29 later I walked out with two sets of OEM keys. :)

Took my Belvedere to the old guy local locksmith a few years ago when I had the doors apart. He loved working on the car and said "I can make the keys fit the locks or the locks fit the keys in any combination you want. He was quick and reasonable. Can't beat them old guys.

before I got my oem blanks,I bought a couple of keys that Ace had that looked like Chrysler keys but were smaller,When I took my oem blanks back the same guy that cut the Ace keys was there again he cut my oem keys and didnt charge me a cent.Love the local Ace Hardware.

Ace is the place, I went through all the hassle of looking for blanks . Ace had them already. They said even if they're not in stock they could get them. They cut mine for free.

Ace made a set of keys for my 68' gtx, but didn't have the blanks for 74' dart :(

I went through the same song and dance with the big hardware stores. Ended up taking my Chrysler blanks to Ace Hardware, they set me up. No old guys around to do the keys, though- had a kid in his 20's doing them, and he came out of the store and oohed and aahed over my Charger.

I always say to myself I'll never go to Home Creepo or Blowe's again, and then I somehow end up there a week later.

Sad that the big box stores have pushed so many of the really cool little hardware stores out of business. There's an Ekrem's Hardware store close to my place that I patronize whenever I can. I don't care if the stuff costs a little more. At least you don't get that blank look from them when you ask a simple question like you do a Home Despot or Blowes.

I keep forgetting to get a extra set made for mine until this is brought up again, maybe ill get it done this week as i have to make a trip to town anyway, Our local hardware store said they would be glad to make them up but being its just a extra set, ill use there key and save the original.. I think i will refrain from getting 5 sets made up though, :)

yeah gotta stay with the regular Harware Stores. and my local CarQuest cuts keys.even if I didn't get the blanks there.

So do I... it's called a Dremel tool. :) I got locked out of my first 73 roadrunner back in 1980 or so and had to call a locksmith. I was amazed at how fast that guy made a new key using nothing buy a pair of vice grips, some little files, and a piece of steel wool.
