I am very tempted to use some spray adhesive to install carpet in my b body...I think that the adhesive will make installation easier, and eliminate the lumpiness that we often see after installing new carpet. But I couldn't help but notice that none of the youtube videos (that I could find) about installing carpet talked about using adhesive.

What do you think? Anyone tried glueing their carpet down? At least partially?

they didn't do that originally
and what if you ever have to take it up?
you created a pita now
i would lay the carpet out for a period of time to try to straighten it out.

I have never glued carpet down. Originally, they were not glued down. The other interior components tie the carpet down and eliminate the "lumpy" look.

What if you had a leak? Spilled a drink? Or had to run a wire underneath etc...

IF it turns out "lumpy", then I MAY use just a titty bit of adhesive in certain spots...then again, if it's relatively flat, then the sun will do the rest of your work fer ya and you wouldn't need any adhesive.

just dont overthink it. :D

I didn't use glue, but I did let the carpet sit outside on a hot day in the sun to let it relax before installation. Also, you can steam it once its in to get any wrinkles out or adjust the fitment. But as other say, the seats and other things hold it in place.

I agree with all of the above, buy good pre formed carpet and let it lay out well in advance. No lumps in mine.

I would not glue the carpet down. I've needed to pull mine up numerous times. If you never want to change things, maybe OK. But on my Satellite the carpet needed to come up for new wiring, new seats, new shoulder harnesses, & a couple other changes.

A good steamer will get any lumps out especially in those compound angled areas like where the tunnel meets the footwell.

I installed a new carpet last year. No adhesive. I think I'd rather live with a lump or two.

I used the ACC carpet with heavy mass backing ( thick rubber backing). It was pre-formed and laid down very nice with no wrinkles. I also let it sit out in the sun for a while before installing.
