Well, I built my car before I became a member of this great forum, so I’ll give you guys a rebuild thread. So the backstory on the car. I had a 68 satellite 4 door, and a couple dodge trucks, but I really wanted a 1966-7 or a 1970 super bee, but truthfully they’re all beautiful so my search was for a 2 door, 4 speed. In 2017 this 1968 GTX came up, it was a roller with no title, but it was too good to pass up. Being a fan of the 70s street freaks and street machines, I set out to build a tribute to that golden era. I repainted the engine bay, after 4 years of rebuilding, repainting, and rewiring it was finally a driver! After 2 years of driving, some of my budget fixes started to show. Every gasket on the 440 is leaking. And I built a Frankenstein 833 iron case with 833od guts a week before a road trip, didn’t have time for new gaskets, so reused the old ones with a lot of silicone and prayers, yeah as expected that didn’t work. After going through the home buying process, and slowly gathering gaskets and seals….oh yeah and a camshaft, because it’s a non hp 440, and if I’m pulling it out, might as well!

So here’s the parts, a bunch of gaskets, and a Lunati voodoo 703. I already put 440 source heads on it, so this cam and a set of headers should really wake up the granny 440

And today I started the tearing it down. I have a messed up back from a car wreck, so between that and weather, it may not look like a lot gets done.

Up on Jackstands

Gross oily every where!

Drive shaft is out.

Most of the accessories and wiring disconnected, and I think that’s it for tonight.

I’ll try

I was a little hesitant to start the thread, I’m a little more of a doer then a talker. I wasn’t sure if I could do decent build thread.

I hear you on that one
Hard to take the pictures when you are in knuckle deep

:rofl::rofl:

We'll be watching...and breaking balls all the while. lol

Bad backs are bitch. Just remember to work smarter, not harder. You know this forum well enough...ask away if you gets stuck.
That’s what I love about this forum, real help when you need it, and comedic relief when you need that too!

One of my favorite cars on this forum actually. I love them with a body this clean.

Love that car! I've also enjoyed your contributions since you've joined the site, too.

Now, about that car name...

I didn’t name the car, I was talking to a long time family friend when I was building it, I said something I didn’t mean in anger, we’ve all been there with our project cars. She promptly corrected me and said no she’s Goddess, and the name stuck

Ha! I didn't name my GTXer either (though I have said some words to her in the same effect lol).

My girlfriend said one day "let's take a ride in baby blue." And the name stuck.

Well, there ya go. The name is now part of the cars' story - and you know how I'm a sucker for a good story.
(BTW "Fred" is what my wife named my GTX. When asked why Fred, she said he's sort of frumpy and grumpy,
like Fred Mertz on I Love Lucy. I couldn't argue there...).
