Golden Goddess heart surgery

Thank you! Ya, it will pop real well at my wake. Im guna be buried in this car.
:lol:Oh stop heh heh....
She's such a pretty car - almost makes me want to put all the gingerbread on Fred.

Almost. :)

Just make an old man happy and put some extra chocks behind the back wheels and some wood blocks or something under the frame rails as extra security.

I always get nervous seeing these big cars sitting up in the air like that just on a couple of jack stands. Don't want to see you get squashed.

She's only got the gingerbread that Ma gave her. Well, except for the road wheels of which are stored in the attic. lol

The picture doesn’t show it, but both back tires are chalked, parking brake is engaged. I always keep the Jack under the the car, but I had it out because of it being in the way of the drain pan, and I didn’t go under it during that time. My neighbors are close, they’re usually outside, plus I always keep my phone in reach. I take safety seriously

One of the decisions I’ve had trouble deciding was to header or not to header. I finally decided I might as well. I’ve done quite a few rattle can rebuilds, I’ve never done a more performance oriented build, and this will most likely be my only chance. Plus it’s a pia gettin the collector bolts, so I kinda cemented my decision by sawzalling the exhaust pipes. This is a budget build, but I got to thinking if I can sell my hp manifolds, that money can go to headers.

My question is, for my cam (see picture,) 440 source heads, performer intake, and 800cfm carb, street driven, what size tubes would be best, what not TTI header fits the best, and in the $400-600 range?

I've got all the original gingerbread - AKA wheelwell moldings, rocker moldings, etc. for Fred - but they're in such
poor condition and of course, the previous owner (and now me the last dozen years) never put stripes back on
after his repainting...

For some reason with Fred, I just like him all "raw" with all of that missing.
Seems in keeping with his demeanor. :)

Heh, I've told stories on here about my antics with less than OSHA-compliant jacking methods...
I HAVE been "squished" before....well, more than once, honestly.
"Human jack stand" under my Ram once, for example...

With the acknowledgement of my health/age, though - and yes, with prodding from FBBO members - I've upped
my safety game quite a bit in recent years, though.
I figure "Eds" can't expect to get nine lives like felines do, ya know?

OH, on the headers - if you can't do TTI, Doug's is very close in 2nd.
After that, crap shoot...

Good post! The best header back in the day was a hooker competition 17/8.
Never tried them with a 4 speed though, so can't comment on that for sure

I was looking at headmans, they’re not as pricey, but they are smaller 1 3/4 tube. I don’t know if that’s too small, and of course the big question their fit.

Dougs come well recommended, but 2” tubes seems awfully big.

Ah, that’s for temporary painted headers. I know it adds costs but the ceramic coating seems worth the extra money to me. Unless a local company can do ceramic coating cheaper then what the header companies sell theirs for.

If it’s a street car I wouldn’t be afraid of running 1.75” headers, especially with your choice of camshaft.

Most factory applied ceramic coatings are less than stellar. I suggest getting the painted version and test fitting them in case you need to dent some tubes for clearance. Once you’re satisfied with the fit, then get them coated.
