Golden Goddess heart surgery

Let’s see how much we can get done before we’re done today

I'm curious about the title? I checked into getting a title for a car I used to have and well, started to get complicated so I sold it. And I'm ready to do some welding on my 66 but other things keep being shoved to the front of the line....

If your car has been out of the system for more then 10 years, you have to bring it to a theft inspector, once they run the numbers, you take it to the dmv, then you get a rejection of title, and some paperwork, then you get a bonded title, and 3 years later you get a blue title. It’s a real pain in the a$$, but it’s the only good way I’ve found.

Can you register the car with the bonded title? Mine has been out of the system since Nov 98 but it's been in my name.....since 88. The car I sold had a lot more rust on it than I wanted to deal with and if my wife hadn't been with me, I would have walked away from it when I first looked at it but she wanted it. Oh well.

Yes, I registered mine with YOM plates, and they also made a change, instead of a sticker on your plate, you can do a regular registration sticker

One guideline that I heard regarding header selection was to pick a primary tube approximately the size of the exhaust valve.
Many cast iron heads use a 1.74" valve...... 1 3/4" headers are 1.75 and 1 7/8" headers are 1.875.
I went with 2" because they were in stock and because I figured that at almost 500 cubes, it made sense.

What size are your valves....uh the ones in the heads on the car.... :D

I’m out of gas, so that’s it for tonight. Only thing to do now is remove the z bar. I forgot how all that goes, so I need to do some research, and probably call someone with a better back.

I have Edelbrock heads, 1.81 exhaust valves. I don't know of any head that has 2" exhaust valves though....maybe some wild racing heads might.

Take pictures! Nothing helps the memory more than seeing it in a picture. Multiple angles with good lighting too.
All of my build threads have multiple pictures in my posts. I often go back to reread what I posted to refresh my memory.

Yep, I’m taking plenty of reference pictures, it should go back together the way it was…with just a few extra bolts

Ok, so it looks like to get the z bar out, I just undo the nut at the frame rail, a clip, and it comes off. Looking at the diagram, I do vaguely remember that when I put it all together. I’ll find out tomorrow
