Good Gas? Bad Gas? Need your thoughts...

Run 93 -94 octane. As for the hardened seats do you drive it 10,000 miles a year? If not, I wouldn't even worry about it. Only use the octane that's required - any more is just a waste of money.

That is correct. My 63 with the 906 heads on my old 440 that ran just 92 pump has been like that for almost 6 years driving about 3000 miles a year. Never had any trouble at all and I have never added an additive. Ron

Sorry about the previous lack of information, But the broquet fuel catalyst will make a difference. Currently running one on J series 440 never had any trouble with fuel since, I know most of you will ignore me but at least give it a look.

I agree with the comments about good luck finding ethanol free gas in the US.
I would be surprised if someone built an engine in the last 15 years without doing hardened valve seats. You probably have them.
The only octane additive I have ever used that seemed to work is Supreme 130

but it is pretty expensive. At $16 a quart it will add 2-3 points of octane per tank but also adds the lead if you need it. I would recommend adding the lead (ZDDP) to your oil if you can get buy with pump gas not knocking.
As for a the comments on Blue gas not making much difference I strongly disagree. I have a Z28 that revs 7500+ at 12.5:1 and either the Sunoco 260GT+ 104 (unleaded) found at some stations or Standard 110 (leaded) found at most tracks or Citgo 110 make a HUGE difference.

Well, twice now, I have made the trip to the semi-local gas station for their ethonal free gas, and both times, they were out! My second attempt, the fellow took my name, and phone number to call me when a new shipment arrived. It took me two days to be able to free up time to get there and by that time POOF it was already sold out!
Makes me wonder who else is buying the same gas, and for what?
I think I'll ask the net time I attempt to fill-up.

ethanoll is here we'll just have to learn to live with it. As far as octane goes run the highest you can get and look at your milage. My wifes grand marquis on regular gets 16 to 18 with mid grade 24 to 28 around town and with the good stuff on the highway 35 is no problem. In my motorcycles, my coronet and my 428 fords i run preminum 92 or 93 and in my wifes cars and my truck and lawn mower i run the mid grade 89 with the increase in milage it costs less than running regular 87.

I guess we are lucky here in Oklahoma. Almost all of the privately owned gas stations are ethenal free. I use it in all of our engines (Harley, Charger, lawn mower)
