Yeah them newer Hellcats Redeyes Demons are quick & fast
nothing like the stuff we drove, the muscle cars of the 60's & early 70's
class of 77' baby, I had 8 sec. cars when I turned 18, summer of 77'
my 67 Camaro S/G later T/S & my 23 T Altered AA/Gas or S/E 7.90, my 69 RR was in the garage

shorter after 7 second cars Altereds a 23 T, would eventually go 6.90s at 190+ at it's peak perf. &
later a 27 T Milodon Hemi 8:71 Enderle FI 180a pump on methanol (not street legal)
I did have a few I drove on the street that'd run 7's, 188-ish
that 67 Camaro/iron LS7 BBC Rec. Port 468 w/350 shot N2O, MT Sportsman tires 31x18s
or 14x32s or 15x33s for real races/4.88:1 gears IIRC
won a Fastest Street Car race/on 'treaded tires' in Firebird, Chandler Az in the later 80's (?)
8.90's at 166+ black-tracking the whole way, drove te 20 mile course & had to shut down & start back up after
then get in the lanes to run a pass, did fine
but not handle or drive a long trip in ever (had faster cars but never on the street)
I did drive my 68 RR 479cid racecar with plates on the 1st Power tour 1995 (?) from mile marker #1 Pier in Calif.
it'd run 8.58 @ 156 best on drag radials, CalTracs, tubular a-arms/k-member it was like taking a racecar to a parade
it was set up to go a 1/4 mile at a time
got to about mid Oklahoma, before I had to turn around (supposed to go to outside Chicago, Pier end of route 66),
I had to come back home half way, work emergency... It drove well, but not really intended for that...
&
I've ridden in a few newer cars, 2015-2023s like the ones mentioned above
even a TRX, drove that one, I was impressed by that truck, seriously impressed
the Charger Hellcat Challenger/Red Eyes or Demon didn't feel as fast off the line,
but when they get going,
damn, they are impressive,
drive well & handle well too, not like my old muscle back in the day
Now if I spent $70k to $100k plus on one of the old cars, they could
but not street driven
impressed by how far we came,
it was really the second coming of the muscle car era
from about 2008 to present before some dum dum killed them off
