Got my 440 installed

Slow going. Going on week # 10 of waiting for gauges and bezels to be refurbished. Sounds like the body work / painting will take longer than I anticipated, but don't want to rush him. ( BTW I haven't brought the car to him yet........he still working on a freakin Camaro ) But once I get some action on it I'll post up some pics.

I did put in all the fluids into her today though. Should be ready to fire up when I get the gauges back.

All right;I gotta ask. You obviously put the mill in from the front(I ask because it's how my stuff will come out and go in);was it with or without trans? What issues did you run into? Headers on the motor or installed after motor was in? Would you like fries with that? Are we there yet? Where do babi...you get the idea.

Seeing your headers tells me that my 1-7/8" Craigslist finds may be Hedman's. Nice to know that they should fit.

That car is freakin' sweet. Good job!

Cool man!
I'm busy with my dodge 440 (1964)
is there a thread where I can see more of the restauration in progress?

Congrats - looks great!

Thanks all! Joe I cant believe a camaro of all things is in the way...
The engine install went pretty smooth. We put the engine in from the top and the trans from the bottom. I'd rather get them all it at once but my cherry picker didn't seem
to lift it very high which is needed to angle it all in with the trans attached.
Cultphotos- I have this link that has pretty much all my pictures on it. http://s40.photobucket.com/albums/e232/JeffreyChappell/1964 Dodge 330/?albumview=slideshow
let's see some of what you've got going on too!

Forgot to mention- Al K- if you have the same headers as me they should fit just fine. As the engine was almost lowered into place, I just slipped them into position without any trouble. I've even kept my studs on the heads which sometimes makes it tough, but not this time.

Cool man!
This is almost like mine dodge 440 also white on red.
Some pics can be found here.
It's a great help to see the colors and can you tell me what's the black part inside the front wheel inner area?
I mean this:

Those are the fender splash shields. They are made of sheetmetal and have weatherstripping around them. That one in the picture is on the backside of the fender towards the rear of the car. There are also splash shields on the front side behind the headlights.

I have a fair set or rears if you're needing some. They can be a little tough to find.

Your 440 is going to be nice! Are yon keeping it red and white?

Keep track of the blog and you will find out!
Already have my new steeringwheel and dash received!
Still searching for minor parts..Like a righthand side red bench hinge cover.
Parts overhere in Europe are hard to get!
Are those splash shield a option or where these on each car.
Mine has just bare sheet metal!

The shields were standard. I think the max wedge and or aluminum front end options meant you didn't have them.

I saw your dash cluster, looks fantastic! I'm going to do that for mine one day.

Thx Mate!
I really love it also!
I'm going to respray the engine bay asap and after that the fron end and brakes will be rebuild. After that I'm going to install the new engine, which will be build in the meantime I hope. I already bought some parts for that also :)
I really praise you for the photo report. It helps me really out wel, since it's hard to find any good resources for the rebuilding process.

I shure have it!
But pics like this are very helpful for me to see how things are painted and put together..

I guess I might as well use this as my build thread. Interior is coming along. I've recently had the headliner installed, put the carpet, dash, seats, door panels and trim in.

Man the car looks great something to really be proud of

Great Car! I have some questions about the headers. How bad where they to install? Did you have to raise the engine? How much clearance at the pass shock tower is there? I am thinking about these for my 65 Belvedere (440/727).

Thanks guys this car is pretty fun to have and now it's down to of the finer details. I do have to pull the heater box out and replace the core since it's leaking.

The headers fit great with no massaging whatsoever and that was with a z bar too, plus the torsion bars were in at the time of the install. The 65 might vary a little. Even though I wanted the older black paint look but if I did it again I'd get the ceramic coating.

The tires are B.F. Goodrich Silvertown and they are the era correct tire for the car. They are 14x7. I later learned that my car came with these but with with whitewalls. Oh well. Next I will get some back wheels like Basoline has with some piecrust slicks.

Your car is gorgeous and your attention to detail amazing: I can only hope my project comes out half as nice. Truly an inspiration!
