Yes, they are stock type lines.
I think the issue with my brake booster is my firewall reinforcement plate. My plate has a parallelogram shaped hole in it. The picture below shows my plate from the back - not the best shot, but you get the idea...
Here is a shot of plate from the internet - they have round holes...
(Sigh) I guess I need a plate now too... :disgust:
Why not just knock the hole out to the size needed? Sorry, I'm cheap and as a result think cheap haha.

A little warning for you on the brake booster, I also have a plated booster and after one summer of use the plating looks like chit. It looks like water spots that will not come off, I polished on it until I went threw the plating and never got them off so it's getting pulled the winter for some paint. might have just been a cheap plating on mine but thought I'd mention it now??????? Progress is looking great

guess the one on the left is a little different but it is yours if you want it.
I may have the one you need it is on a 73 Charger.
the angle of the image of the brake lines made them look big !1 /4 in I have seen guys do bigger before but 3/16 is what I find works for us.

Costs are absolutely becoming an issue with this car. It is turning out really nice, so on one hand I don't want to put anything crappy or half assed in it. On the other hand, sometimes the 'right' stuff costs a lot. I would absolutely knock out the hole to the size needed, but the hole I have is bigger than I need. I would have to fabricate a piece of metal in my existing hole and then drill that out...
Thanks for the warning. As I said in my earlier post, I am not thrilled with the design of the brake booster. The stock 70 design looks much nicer, in my opinion. If I keep this booster, I should maybe paint it to avoid the issues you are having - that would make it more factory looking anyway...

Unfortunately the plate is missing holes and has a different shape. The plate you have would interfere with my firewall to cowl seam. Again, thanks for the offer!

why did you chose the booster you have now?
It looks like one that fits my 76 class C motor home.
I have never had a booster on any of our '70 B bodies so not sure what the OE looks like. {muscle cars don't need no stinkin' power brakes :}
this is from a 73 Charger I recently replaced, what a PITA that was! the clevis pin was rusted solid to the linkage causing the brake pedal to stick to the floor. It got a liberal dose of grease when it went back together.
I had the original booster rebuilt which took about a week.
Having this booster makes for getting the lower rear valve cover bolt a real challenge for me to get to.
I have another 73 charger parts car which has the power brake assembly complete if it would do you any good, the booster would need to be rebuild if it would do you any good.

LOL. It came with a disk brake upgrade kit I purchased from The Right Stuff. The kit was pretty nice except for the power brake booster. I agree that it looks like a truck piece!
As far a muscle cars needing no stinkin' power brakes: (smile) I was seriously thinking about leaving the brakes manual. But, I will be driving this thing across country later this year, so I need good brakes - not sure what kind of traffic conditions I may have to deal with. Most likely everything from stop and go to sudden stops. Yes, the lack of power booster won't reduce braking capability per se, but I want to be comfortable (gasp! :surprised-005

Sorry, it is not quite the same. The 70 and earlier models are a smaller diameter, so I actually think they are easier to work around. I am going to source one of those so I have a stock looking engine compartment (as much as possible). It also assures that they will work factory correct with no bullsh** issues.
The problem with this $#@%! car is now it is so nice that I can't put anything substandard on it! I guess that's a nice problem to have, but sometimes I would really like to slap a crusty old part on it and not worry about it!!!

Hey hawk,
First off, the car looks fantastic! My 2 cents on the booster; I know it ups the budget a bit but I would change it out now to the correct direct mount style. I think you would be happier in the long run. I have no idea why many of the PDB kits come with that cantelivered type??!!

While waiting for brake booster parts, I concentrated on electrical wiring this weekend. What a headache! :icon_scratch:
Here you can see SOME of the wiring I had to deal with. There was also air conditioning wiring not shown here...
I needed a place to mount the MSD box. I didn't want it in the engine compartment, and it had to be away from the FAST ECU to avoid electrical noise. I finally got the idea to mount it on the glove box. Why? It actually provides some shock resistance, and there is ample room above it, so why not?
Here is the dash (upside down) in all its mess. The big blue tags are to help me remember where stuff needs to be connected. You can also see the MSD box on the right.
I didn't want to cut any more holes through the firewall, and again, I am trying to keep the car looking as stock as possible. Rather than cut huge holes to fit connectors through, I pulled the pins out of them. What a pain in the A$$!!! The connector pictured is constructed with each pin having two little barbs that hold it in. You have to stick a small screwdriver in both top and bottom to dislodge them - not easy!
I then got the ECU and FAST wiring harness in the car. It looks like a mess now (and I guess it is), but slowly things are coming together. Hopefully all the time spent planning will pay off later with minimal issues. The ECU is in the center of this picture, just above the transmission hump. (It is not sideways, it is the picture that is!)
Each of these steps are bringing me closer to being able to install both the K-Member and dashboard. I'm looking forward to that!

I agree Hawk, wiring can be a headache. It looks like you got a good handle on it though. I put my dash loom in after the dash. I've never had my body in so many awkward positions before, on my own I mean lol.

LOL I totally agree. I am trying to absolutely everything I can before it goes in the car. There are few things I have to connect in the car, like connecting some dashboard wiring to the FAST fuel injection wiring. The FI wiring would have been a nightmare to install after the dash, so that went in yesterday as you saw. When the dash goes in, there are a few items (3) that need to be connected...
Other issues with working under a dash: The problem is that now I am at an age where I can't back my head far enough away from stuff I am working on when I have a brake pedal in my ear! (Reading glasses under a car just don't work well...) :thinker:

This thread has been so helpful! I'm probably going with a FI setup too and I wasn't considering the under dash wiring. Was planning on reattaching the dash harness and installing the dash right after paint. Makes sense to install the ECU wiring first. I hear ya - between reading glasses, a cranky back and 50+ year old joints rolling around underneath a dash is not my idea of a good time!

A project of this size has any number of key vendors to do the work. The car turned out so nice that I just couldn't put the crappy old wiper motor on it, and Kim came to my rescue with a quick turn around of mine. It will be an honor to bolt that up and be able to lift my hood now - everything should look really nice now, not to mention that my wiper motor is now unlikely to fail as I drive across country!

Well if it does it carries a lifetime warranty, snatch it off, send it to me and I'll turn it around in 24 hours on a repair. Ohhh hey better yet, fly me in and I'll fix it on the spot LOL
Factory Brakes This Time!
So I got a proper, factory brake booster. Now it all fits like it should! Work this weekend has been slow going due to the cold (13F this AM), but little by little, and with lots of hot beverages, I'm getting it done.
The master cylinder brake lines needed some significant adjustment, but the brake system is in now. Except for bleeding the master cylinder and brakes later, it is all done! None of the brake lines touch or rub where they shouldn't, so I think we will be in good shape here.
I also got the gaskets for the hood mounted turn signals, so I mounted that unit on the car. To the best of my knowledge, my car did not come with hood mounted turn signals, but I really like them so they were added to the build!
